NY 10009 Project: As-Built Garage Conversion of the Kostick Residence, at 925 Bennett's Pond Lane in Mattituck SCTM# = 1000-113-13-10 LETTER OF CERTIFICATION EXISTING SEPTIC SYSTEM The owners of the above referenced residence are in the process of selling their house. In order to finalize the sale a Certificate of Occupancy is required for improvements that were performed in 2009 without applying for a building permit. Part of the existing attached 2 car garage had been converted into an additional bedroom which brought the total number of bedrooms up to three. I called Morris Cesspool Service Inc. to have them locate the septic system. I personally inspected the two septic pools which are made of masonry block: the first pool is 6 feet wide and 8 feet deep, and the overflow pool is 8 feet wide and 8 feet deep. Both pools are in very good condition. According to Morris the septic system was designed for a 3-bedroom house and is therefore adequate for this residence. INSULATION INSPECTION When I inspected the added bedroom construction I noticed that the installed insulation was not up to code, The floor insulation is R-17 between 2x6 floor joists, the wall insulation is R-13 between 2x4 studs, the ceiling insulation is R-19 which is insufficient, heat loss is greatest through the ceiling and roof I asked the owner to install a second continuous layer of R-19 batts on top of the existing insulation which would give him a R-38 value. hereby state that the :rank Uellendahl above is true to the best of my knowledge. WOOD DECK A 16'X16' wood deck off the south facing living room was proposed as part of the original building permit application around 197Q The deck seems to have been built shortly after the final inspection for the residence took place Kindly perform the inspection for the deck along with the As-built inspection so that it can be included in the final CO.
