ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE
September 1, 1998 4;30 P.M.
The ARC met at Town Hall, moving to the site of the proposed Dzugas-Smith
winery. Members present were:
Robert I. Brown, Co-Chairman
Garreff A. Strang, Co-Chairman
Sanford Hanauer, Mattituck
Robert W,. Keith, Secretary, Mattituck
Howard Meinke, Cutchogue
Yah Rieger, Graenport
Also attending was Albert La Combe, Traveller-Watchman.
The minutes of the meeting of August 19 were approved as submitted.
DZUGAS-SMITH WINERY: (Pm-submission) Pending e final submission to the
Planning Board, the Committee (1) affirmed its recommendation of June 4 "that
the building be sited 220 feet or more from the road" and (2) recommends that
the angle of the building from the road be retained as in the original proposal.
The Committee discussed the merits of a policy to situate winedes away from
the road in an area surrounded by grapes. These locations are attractive, in
keeping with winedes elsewhere, and avoid any extension of a strip mall like
appearance into agdculturet areas.
