HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/25/2000SOUTHOLD TOWN ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE May 25, 2000, 4:00 p.m. The ARC met at Town Hall, Members present ware: Garrett A. Strang, Co-Chairman Robert W. Keith, Secretary, Mattituck Howard G Meineke, Cutchogue Herbert Ernst, Southold Also present ware Robert G. Kassner and Melissa Spiro of the Planning Board Staff, William Kelly and Peter Hennessey representing Buccaneer Books; Kenneth Schneider and Ira Haspel on behalf of Martha Clare Vineyards; and David Saland, Charles M. Thomas and Jeffrey T. Butler for Laurel Links. Moved by Garrett Strang and seconded by Robert Keith, it was RESOLVED to APPROVE the MINUTES of the meeting of May 4, 2000. Vote of the Committee: Ayes All BUCCANEER BOOKS (Depot Lane, Cutchogue) The guests made a presentation of a 53 x 100 building identical to the existing building situated on the rear of the lot. It was RESOLVED by Howard Meineke and seconded by Robert Keith to recommend APPROVAL of the building with the CONDITION that a double row of screening be planted to the front of the building, as proposed by the owner, Mr. Hennnessy. Vote of the Committee: Ayes All. ROBINS ISLAND PRIVATE FERRY TERMINAL (New Suffolk) The Committee reviewad a revised plan with an improved wast elevation. We still lack illustrations of the exterior lighting and the Committee asks that the owner consider extending the eyebrow over the door the length of the south elevation. MARTHA CLARE VINEYARDS (Sound Avenue, Laurel) The guests described a three phase winery plan, modifying an existing barn to a tasting room this year, building a European stone design winery next year and extending it in the same style the year following. LAUREL LINKS (Main Road, Laurel) Our guests described a clubhouse, cart barn, maintenance building, pool house and halfway house. The cart barn and maintenance building would have board and batten siding over metal with green standing seam metal roofs. The other buildings would have cedar shingle siding and roofs in a natural finish. It was RESOLVED by Garrett Strang and seconded by Robert Keith to TABLE the last three presentations until a meeting to be held June 1 at 4:00 p.m. Robert W. Keith Secretary
