ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE
January 29, 2004
The ARC met at Town Hall at 4:30 p.m. Members present were:
Garrett A. Strang, Co-Chairman.
Robert I. Brown, Co-Chairman
Herbert Ernst, Southold
Robert Keith, Mattituck, Secretary
Also present were Bruno Semon of the Planning Board staff, James Fitzgerald
and Michael Miller for Elements of Nature, and Thomas McCarthy for Natural
Landscape Accents.
Moved by Robert Brown and seconded by Garrett Strang, it was RESOLVED to
APPROVE the MINUTES of the meeting of December 2, 2003.
Vote of the Committee: Ayes all.
NATURAL LANDSCAPE ACCENTS (North Road - Peconic)
The Committee noted that the roof pitch had been raised to 6 in 12 and that the
applicant preferred to remain with a hip roof on the porch. It was then
RESOLVED by Robert Keith and seconded by Robert Brown to APPROVE the
APPLICATION with the CONDITIONS that the width of the hip roof on the porch
be reduced to a point halfway between the windows and each corner of the
building and that the clerestory windows on the front elevation be moved up into
the gable and arranged so as to be centered on the ridge.
Vote of the Committee: Ayes All,
Applicants are reminded that deviations from approved plans without the review
and approval of the Architectural Review Committee will cause recision of the
original approval and may negatively impact securing the Certificate of
Occupancy.
ELEMENTS OF NATURE (56125 Main Road - Southold)
The applicant described the conversion of a house to a 28 seat restaurant with
three guest rooms on the second floor and noted that the glass block on the
drawing had been removed. It was subsequently RESOLVED by Robert Brown
and seconded by Robert Keith to APPROVE the APPLICATION with the
CONDITIONS that transitional material such as a trellis be placed on the east
facade of the front and that the sign be uplit.
Vote of the Committee: Ayes all.

CHRIS MOHR LAWN AND LANDSCAPE (North Road - Cutchogue)
The Committee noted that board and batten siding will be used on both buildings,
meeting the condition of the approval of September 23, :2003
SEA TOW SERVICES (Boisseau Avenue - Southold)
It was noted that the applicant will use groundlighting for the sign and will recess
the exterior lighting into the building's soffits, fulfilling the conditions of the
approval of November 6, 2003.
CUTCHOGUE HARBOR MARINA (3350 West Creek Avenue - Cutchogue) In
a PRE-SUBMISSION discussion, Mr. Semon described an as-built application for
the marina. The Committee requested that photographs be obtained for each
elevation of the several buildings and that the usual reviews be made for buildings
without certificates of occupancy and for new construction and alterations.
