ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE
OCTOBER 7, 2004
The ARC met at Town Hall Annex at 4:00p.m, Members present were:
Garrett A. Strang, Co-Chairman; Robert I Brown, Co-Chairman
Herbert Adler, Jr., Landmarks Preservation Committee;
Herbert Ernst, Southold; Ron McGreevy, Mattituck
Nicholas J. Planamento, Southold
Also present were Bruno Semon of the Planning Board Staff, Michael Sirico for Fitness Advantage,
Tom McCarthy, Len & Penny Vaccariello for Southold Floor Covering.
Moved by Garrett Strang and seconded by Robert Brown, it was RESOLVED to defer reading of the
minutes of the August 17, 2004 meeting until the next ARC meeting.
Vote of the Committee: Ayes All.
Harts Hardware (Main Road, S0uthold) SCTM# 1000-70-5-6.2
The applicant submitted a written request to substitute "Hardi Plank" texture horizontal siding for the
previously approved vinyl siding. The color will be "Cabots Driftwood Gray" # 01-0644.
Moved by Robert Brown and seconded by Herbert Ernst, it was RESOLVED to accept the
modification to the original approval.
Vote of the Committee: Ayes All.
Applicants are reminded that deviations from approved drawings without the review and approval of
the Architectural Review Committee will cause rescission of the original approval and may negatively
impact securing the Certificate of Occupancy.
C.J. Van Bourgondien Green House (Main Road, Peconic) SCTM# 1000-85-2-7
The Applicant proposes to construct a new greenhouse addition on the south side of the existing
greenhouse building. The committee applauded the applicant for proposing an aesthetically pleasing
traditional glass and metal frame structure in lieu ora plastic "Quonset Hut" type structure.
Moved by Herbert Adler and seconded by Herbert Ernst, it was RESOLVED to approve the
application as submitted.
Vote of the Committee: Ayes All.

impact securing the Certificate of Occupancy.
Fishers Island Tennis Pavilion (East End Road, Fishers Island) SCTM# 1000-4-6-9
The committee reviewed the submittal for railings and lighting fixtures previously requested.
Moved by Garrett A. Strang and seconded by Herbert Adler, it was RESOLVED to approve the
bronze bullet shaped flood light and rail detail as submitted. Request a clarification as to the material
and finish of the wall mounted lantern fixture and require that all roof penetrations be copper or copper
clad. Furthermore any ground or building mounted signage must be submitted to the committee for
review.
Vote of the Committee: Ayes All.

Fitness Advantage (CR 48 North Road, Southold) SCTM# 1000-55-2-16
The applicant proposes alterations to an existing building which include application of white stucco
for the exterior finish, black awnings and entry canopy on the south and west elevations and bronze
colored wall mounted lighting fixtures.
Moved by Herbert Adler and seconded by Ron McGreevy, it was RESOLVED to approve the
application as submitted subject to submittal of catalogue cuts for exterior lighting fixtures and details
for any ground or building mounted signage.
Vote of the Committee: Ayes All.

CHRIS MOHR LAWN AND LANDSCAPE (North Road, Cutchogue) SCTM# 1000-96-1-20.1
Moved by Robert Brown and seconded by Nicholas J. Planamento, it was RESOLVED to accept the
application for a pole barn accessory building located in the northwest corner of the site as submitted.
Siding to be tan ribbed metal with roofing green ribbed metal.
Vote of the committee: Ayes 5. (Garrett A. Strang abstained)

the Architectural Review Committee will cause rescission of the original approval and may negatively
impact securing the Certificate of Occupancy.
SANG LEE FARMS (North Road, Peconic) SCTM# 1000-84-5-1.2 & 1.3
As per the conditions of the previous approval the applicant submitted materials and colors for the
proposed barn building.
Moved by Herbert Adler and seconded by Ron McGreevy, it was RESOLVED to approve the white
ribbed metal siding, white trim and charcoal colored ribbed metal roofing subject to receipt of
catalogue cuts of exterior lighting fixtures previously requested.

SOUTHOLD FLOOR COVERING (North Road, Southold) SCTM# 1000-55-2-18.1
The Applicant's and their representative described the practical and economic reasons why they could
not incorporate the recommendations of the committee made at the preliminary submission.
Moved by Herbert Adler and seconded by Herbert Ernst, it was RESOLVED to grant a
PRELIMINARY CONDITIONAL APPROVAL for cedar impressions vinyl siding on the showroom
portion of the building including the wall between the west facing gables with the understanding that a
"Hardi Shingle" material is preferred by the committee and if economically viable will be used. Also
approved is the ribbed metal siding on the warehouse portion of the building in a color to match that of
the showroom. The above approvals are subject to receipt of the final material color samples, location
and material of all roof penetrations, location and screening of mechanical equipment, ground and wall
mounted signage details, catalogue cuts for all exterior lighting and any other "check list" items for
ARC review.
Vote of the committee: Ayes 5. (Robert I. Brown had to leave before the vote)
