Roof.' the committee would like to see a real roof, a lighter shade for the roof
color, preference for real gables,
Signage: Chase sign inside entryway, visible from street through front window
glass too large. Need dimensions of that sign. Will that sign be lit up at night?
Chase sign on brick portion of building exterior is appropriate in scale.
Windows: too much glass. Scale down the amount of glass, perhaps add panes.
Create a more traditional window (New England) What is the color of the glass'?.
Change street faqade. Create 2 equal piers on either side of entryway.
Landscaping: Buffer between bank and residential lot to the east - shift bank
building to the West, even by 10 ft. to create a buffer on the east side.
Lighting: Is there outdoor lighting currently in the public parking lot? What kind?
Need full cut-off, dark-sky compliant, not visible from adjacent properties
lighting.
Have combination of light fixtures -historic in/on front of building, contemporary
throughout rest of plaza.
ATM lighting requirements are fine.
Bank is trying to landscape to minimize irrigation. Using grass seed, no sod.
Suggested ground cover and native drought and heat tolerant species.
Chase bank has approved the design of this building.
For examples of overall structure aesthetic - look at Optometrist's Office on the
North road in Southold and look at Vineyard 48.
Pre-Submission Applications:
HUDSON CITY SAVINGS BANK PLAZA SCTM#: 1000-122-3-1.2, 2, 5.1 & 17
Tamara Sadoo, Planning Board Staff presented the revised application.
NOT APPROVED: The most recent sketch plan was not approved by the committee. The
Architectural Review Committee would like to see the parking spaces in the parking lot
rotated back to their original positions. The committee would like to see the island
separating the parking lot from the buildings returned, a curb on the island to prevent any
damage to the trees and planted with deciduous trees, perhaps one show specimen in the
center of the island (30 foot on center). The commSttee would also like to see the back two
parking rows land banked. To protect the resident from possible future use of parking
closest to home install a sLx-foot fence between resident and proposed Bank Plaza planted
with evergreens. This would be done to abate light, noise and appearance.
Provide a sketch plan with landscaping in pe£tmeter buffer drawn to scale. Suggestions for
perimeter buffer landscaping: A) Cedars - min. 6 ft, spacing staggered at 6 ft., B) Deciduous
trees planted in same areas as above, but not along pe£uneter adjacent to dumpster, spadmg
30 ft., and 6 ft. cedar stockade fence (solid) W~th aesthetic lattice top, ornamental (1-2 ft). No
light source from the bank plaza should be visible by any neighbors.
MOTION MADE:; SECOND:. All in favor.
