HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/12/2009 Town of Southold Architectural Review Committee Minutes · :00p.m., February lg, go09 Town Hall Annex Executive Board Room Members Present: Sandford Hanauer, Chairman; Elizabeth Thompson; Herbert Ernest; Joseph Lee; Ronald McGreevy; Nicholas Planamento; Mark Schwartz; Heather Lanza, Planning Director; Kristy Winser, Planner; Elizabeth Cantrell, Secretary. The minutes tbr the January ~2~2, ~2009 meeting were approved. Introduction: All applicants will give a presentation consisting of drawings, exterior materials samples and other intbrmation required by the Planning Department to the Committee. The Committee will ask questions and make suggestions as part of a general discussion with each applicant. Final recommendations from the ARC will be presented to the Planning Board in the ARC Meeting Minutes, and be made part of the Planning file for that application. The Planning Board will consider these recommendations, together with all comments from other agencies, and provide the applicant with a comprehensive written list of its requested revisions. New Applications: Joint Board Electrical Industry SCTM #1000-85-g-17.$ Louis Giacalone, R.A., Architect and Patricia C. Moore, Esq., Attorney presented this project to the Committee. The Cmmnittee recommends th~ project is acceptable as submitted. Motion made and seconded. All in favor. Valero Service Station SCTM # 1000-10~-5-g6 Geane Buccellato, owner & Rob Chase, partner presented this project to the committee. The Committee is recommending the following modifications to the current project plan: o No internally lit signage anywhere on the property, canopy or building. o The use of Dark Sky compliant goose-neck style lighting fixtures. o Replace all lighting fixtures around the fuel pumps with Dark Sky compliant goose-neck style fixtures. o The fuel canopy mimics the style of the hip roof on the building, or something in the style of the attached photos. o Reduce the size of the proposed 5'x$' street fuel sign to be no more than 5 feet in height. o Removal of the advertisement monitors of top of each pump. Not dark sky compliant. Increase the plantings on the northerly and westerly sides of the property including deciduous and conifer vegetation. To help break up the nearly continuous pavement areas of this property and 7-11. Also, the plantings will create additional buffer between residence and this property on the north side.
