New York 11971 Fax 1516) 765-1823 Telephone (516) 765-1801 LAND PRESERVATION COI~ITTEE TOWN OF SOUTHOLD LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 1997 MINUTES Present were: Joe Gold, Jim Pim, Jim Rich, Michael Croteau, Fred Lee and Tim Caufield The committee reviewed the development plan for Indian Shores (Fort Corchaug). Tim Caufield gave a quick update on Fort Corchaug. The Peconic Land Trust has been working with Bill Baxter and the possibility of an installment sale. A number of individuals are interested in this plan. If this plan is approved, first there would be a bargain sale and then an installment sale. The committee discussed the Gatz-McDowell appraisal. It came in at $6000.00 per acre. It is near an area of one acre zoning. A motion was made by Jim Pim and seconded by Michael Croteau to offer Gatz-McDowell the appraisal price. All were in favor. Joe will contact Gatz McDowell. The committee reviewed the Donna Dzugas-Smith appraisal. The LIRR tracks run across this property. A motion was made by Jim Pim and seconded by Michael Croteau to offer the appraisal price of $6000.00 per acre. All were in favor. Joe will contact her. The committee reviewed the Lois Woodhull appraisal. It is a working nursery. A motion was made by Michael Croteau and seconded by Jim Pim to offer the appraisal price of $6500.00 per acre. All were in favor. Joe will contact her. -2- The committee discussed the Cecil and Marion Young appraisal. A motion was made by Michael Croteau and seconded by Jim Pim to offer the Youngs the appraisal price of $8000.00 per acre. All were in favor. Joe will contact the Youngs. Jim Pim suggested perhaps the Peconic Land Trust could educate the farmers by giving a seminar for the farmers who are interested in selling their development rights. Joe will talk with Tim Caufield . The committee reviewed the applications of Joan Eickoff, Bridge La., Cutchogue; Edward and Rita Brown, Oregon Rd., Cutchogue; Christian Baiz, Ackerly Pond Lane and Bay Home Rd';, Southold and Anthony Aliperti, Oregon Rd., Cutchogue. A motion was made by Michael Croteau and seconded by Jim Pim to recommend to the Town Board that Andrew Stype & Sons be contracted to appraise these properties for the Land Preservation Committee.
