unit will be on the market as the owner will relocate with employer Capital One.
Update Suffolk County 72H Proqram and Habitat for Humanity Proposal: Proposed
affordable housing will not be built because the lot is merged with the improved lot next to
it and is in foreclosure. Suffolk County advised strongly against pursuing opportunity.
Housinq Resource Fair: Decision made to sponsor fair in the Spring of 2012.
Accessory Apartment Leqislation: Phillip reported that an apartment rental will become
available on November 1st as a homeowner will move into a converted accessory structure
and a family on the Section 8 waiting list will move into the house.
Housinq Advisory Commission Membership Update: Nancy Pester tendered her
resignation and Stephen Kiely was removed for lack of attendance. An advertisement will
appear in the Suffolk Times to advertise for new members.
Comprehensive Plan-Housinq Chapter: Heather Lanza provided map, discussed
projections of 10% for affordable housing in HALO zones that was formulated several
years ago but not adopted by the Town Board. She discussed the proposed build-out
analysis that has not been finalized but indicated those numbers alone would not provide
much insight for the purposes of figuring out what the Town's goals should be regarding
affordable housing. In addition she indicated that the proposed chapter is on target so far
with the listed objectives and that identifying specific numbers of affordable housing units
might be difficult. That being said, some specific goals, especially with regard to accessory
apartments would help with the implementation phase of the plan.
Rental Survey: Michael worked with Phillip to provide data of queries that Community
Rentals and Sales had received in 2011 for households seeking rentals in the Town. This
provides a sampling of how much money that residents claim they can pay towards rent,
family size, etc. Document will be emailed to HAC for review and comments.
Distribution: American Planning Association, October 21st commentary.
Next IVleetinq Date: November 9th at 5:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Phillip Beltz
