New York 11971 Fax (516'~ 765-1823 Telephone (516) 765-1801 LAND PRESERVATION COI~IMITTEE ~OWN OF SOUTHOLD LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING - APRIL 10, 1997 Present were: Joe Cold, Tom Madigan, Jim Rich, Fred Lee, Ruth Oliva and Tim Caufield A correction to the Minutes of February 24, 1997. Fred Lee did not vote on the Gatz/McDowell property. The committee discussed the possibility of the Town hiring a consultant to help the committee with prospective sellers of development rights. The major part of the job is to give tax advice, which the committee is not prepared to do. The committee reviewed the Peconic Land Trust's contract with the Town of Southampton. A motion was made by Tom Madigan and seconded by Fred Lee to have Joe Gold speak to the Town Board re: the Town retaining a consultant to assist the committee in developing a larger basis of applications for the program. All were in favor. Tim Caufield of the Peconic Land Trust gave the committee an update on the fort Corchaug property. The committee discussed the Anthony Aliperti appraisal. The long narrow farm would be very expensive to develop. Therefore, the development rights are worth less. Also, Mr. Aliperti removed the road frontage. Joe will speak to Mr. Aliperti about putting the road frontage back in. If he is willing to put it back in, a motion was made by Tom Madigan and seconded by Fred Lee to offer him the appraisal price of $6000.00 per acre. All were in favor. The committee reviewed the Edward and Rita Brown appraisal. A motion was made by Fred Lee and seconded by Jim Rich to offer the Browns the appraisal price of $6000.00 per acre. All were in favor. The committee discussed the Eickoff appraisal. The property has been sold to Ralph Pugliese. Joe will speak to Andy Stype to get the sale price. The committee reviewed the applications of Christian Baiz. One property is located on Ackerly Pond Lane, Southold and the other is on the Main Road in Southold. A motion was made by Fred I-ee and seconded by Tom Madigan to recommend to the Town Board that Andy Stype be hired to appraise these two parcels at a fee of $2000.00. All were in favor. The committee discussed William and Theresa Ackermann's application, Middle Road, Cutchogue. Two parcels were submitted but the committee is not really interested in the small 3 acre parcel. Joe will check with the owners. A motion was made by Tom Madigan and seconded by Jim Rich to recommend to the Town [~oard that David Wimpelberg be contracted to appraise this property for $1000.00. All were in favor. The committee reviewed the application-, of George I_. Young and Barbara A. Young. The property is located at the intersection of Main Road and Narrow River Road in Orient. A motion was made by Tom Madigan and seconded by Jim Rich to recommend to the Town Board that David Wimpelberg be contracted to appraise this property for a fee of $1000.00. All were in favor, The committee decided to table the three application of William Ruland, Santa's Xmas Tree [:arm and the Harold Watts application at this time. It was also decided to hold off getting an appraisal for the Van Nostrand property until a later date.
