New York 11971 Fax(516) 765-1823 Telephone (516) 765-t801 LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE TOWN OF SOUTHOLD LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING TUESDAY, MAY 27, '1997 MINUTES Present were: Joe Gold, Tom Madigan, Fred Lee, Jim Rich and Jim Pim. The committee discussed the purchase of Fort Corchaug. A motion was made by Tom Madigan and seconded by Fred Lee to recommend to the Town Board that Andy Stype be contracted to appraise the farmland portion of Fort Corchaug should the County pull out again. All were in favor. Jim Pim suggested contacting the owners of the farms you see when entering Orient. One owner is John Tuthill. Jim and the committee felt that this land should be a priority, as it is a beautiful vista upon entering Orient. Joe will speak to Ruth Oliva about these properties. The committee reviewed the application of Robert Van Nostrand, whose property is located in Orient. A motion was made by Tom Madigan and seconded by Jim Rich to recommend to the Town Board that Andy Stype be hired to appraise this property. All were in favor. The committee discussed the Raphael Vineyard's application. It is approx- imately 50 acres located on the southside of Route 25 in Peconic. A motion was made by Jim Pim and seconded by Tom Madigan to recommend to the Town Board that David Wimpelberg be contracted to appraise this property. All were in favor. The committee reviewed the application of John and Sandra Scott. Since their application was a little confusing, Joe will contact them and find out exactly what they are offering. -2- The committee discussed the Reynold Blum application. This is a sod farm on the Main Road in Peconic. Fred Lee said they should be putting in grapes on this land. A motion was made by Jim Rich and seconded by Tom Madigan to recommend to the Town Board that David Wimpelberg be hired to appraise this property. All were in favor. The committee reviewed the three parcels offered by William Ruland. They are located in Mattituck. There are approximately 65 acres involved. A motion was made by Fred Lee and seconded by Jim Pim to recommend to the Town Board that Andy Stype be contracted to appraise these parcels. Ail were in favor. With no further business to be conducted, a motion was made by Tom Madigan and seconded by Jim Pim to adiourn the meeting at 8:20 p.m. All were in favor. Respectfully submitted, · Wilkins Secretary
