Failure to fol- low this safety warning exactly could result in dam- aged vents, damaged components, carbon monoxide poisoning, or death. Connection of the vent pipe to the vent collar should also be accomplished using RTV type sealant. This type sealant provides a connection which remains flexible and can be separated in the future if service needs re- quire the removal of the vent pipe for service or clear- ance. See Figure 24. .NOTE: To ensure proper operation at the vent lengths indi- cated, the combustion air inlet and vent terminals should be in the same pressure zone. Terminating the vent and inlet in diflerent pressure zones will change the maximum vent lengths and may cause nuisance tripping of the pressure switch(es). The amount of change can not be predicted. The selection of the inlet and outlet terminal locations are the responsibility of the designer/installer, ff the installer chooses separate pressure zones for the terminals, the combustion air inlet termination must he in the higher (more positive) pressure zone. r® Installers Guide VENT AND INLET AIR CONNECTIONS Seal VENT PIPE with RTV sealant Seal INLET AIR PIPE with R~V sealant IMPORTANT: Products installed in Canada must use vent systems that are certified to the Standard for Type BH Gas Vent- ing Systems (ULC S636) for Class II-A venting systems (up to 65°C). Components of the vent system must not be interchanged with other vent systems or unlisted pipe or fittings. [] Recessed lights are 1) Type lC rated, or 2) installed inside an appropriate air-tight assembly wi~ e 0.5' clearance from combustible materials. If non-~C rated, fixtures are installed with a 3" ctsarance from insulation. Vapor Retarder:. [] thetailad on the wam~qr~-wleter side of all non-vented framed cstilegs, walls, and floors. Materials Identification and Installation: [] Materials and equipment are installed in accordance ~ the manufacturer's installation instructions. [] Insulation is installed in sub&tantial contact wi~ the sunface being insulated and In a manner that achieves the rated R-value. [] Materials and equipment are ideuiffied so that compriance can be determined. ['1 Manufacturer manuals for all installed heating and cooling equipment and sen/ice water heating equipment have been provided. Insulation R-values and glazing U-factem are clearly marked on the building plans or specific~ions. Tapes and mastics are mtnd UL 181A or UL 181B. Exceptions: Continuously welded and Iockieg-type tongitudinal joints and seams on ducts operating at less than 2 In. w_g. (500 Pa). [] The HVAC system provides a means for balancing air an d water systems. Temperature Controls: [] Each dwelling unit has at tsast one thermostat capable of autecnedcally adjusting the space tempat.atore set point of the largest zone. Electric Systems: [] Separate electric meters exist for each dwelllag unit. Firaplacea: [] Fireplaces are instslied with tight fitting non-combuetibla fireplace doors.
