I visited the premises in June of this year (al~er a prelimina~ visit in February of 2009) and entered the attic space via an access hatch in the rear wall of the bedroom closet. Observation of visible framing and insulation found both in compliance with aspects of the Residential Code of New York Slate. Although your attic space in this area of the building does not gene~ly meet the definition of one capable of limited storage, framing used as pa~ of the second floor habitable space more than meets the requirements for such use [i.e., ceiling (or attic floor) capable of a live load of 20 pounds per square foot]. Certification of these conclusions was gained by my structural analysis of the framing and use of the U.S. Department of Energy REScbeck compliance software. A plan set as well as a copy of the REScheck analysis has been provided to you for your use, as well as for use by Town of Southold code officials.
