I have received a notice requesting that I remove the fence. [ have scheduled a meeting to discuss this issue with the Board on October 20tie 2004. In the mean time I have removed the fence but left the fence posts in place. I now request permission to leave thc posts in place at least until our meeting on October 20th. The reason~s for this request are discussed below. I plan on applying for a permit for a split rail fence which would utilize the same posts. Additionally, I am hopeful that aRer our meeting my fence will be permitted to remain since it has been in place for over 20 years. I wes recently informed that my neighbor's, similarly situated fence, will be permitted to remain under a pre-existing exemption and that fence has been in place l~ss time tlmt mine has. Accordingly, I am confident that I will be able to take advantage of the same exemption. Finally, I can not remove the posts myself and would need to hire a contractor to undertake this task. Some of the poles are steel and have been in place since long before I purchased the property. The other poles are wood and firmly embedded, my son recently attempted to relocate one pole and wes uaable to move it. Removal of thcs© post~ would not only be of great expanse to me but also may cause unnecessary disruption to the soil and surrounding enviromont. It seems silly to remove the posts now ffthe Board may decide a few weeks later that thoy can be put back in. If necessary I will make myself available for au earlier meeting with the board.
