ANTI-BIAS TASK FORCE
SOUTHOLD TOWN ANTI-BIAS TASK FORCE MINUTES 7/18/11
PRESENT: Peter Bell, Pat Fulford, Loretta Geraci, Reverend Heyward, Jean LePre, Merle Lev/ne, Eleanor Lingo,
Carolyn Peabody, and Cindy Smith
There is a correction to last month's minutes: there is a proposal by the Human Rights Commission that anyone can
make a complaint against the police directly to the Human Rights Commission. Then, the complaint is forwarded to the
local police departments. Carolyn makes a motion to accept the minutes with corrections. Peter seconds, all are in favor.
NEW BUSINESS:
Carolyn makes a motion that if the memorandum of understanding is accepted, then the ABTF will notify the community,
Loretta has a contact with the Suffolk Co Police,
There is a clarification for Merle re: the letter of suppor~ to Elaine Gross re: consolidation for the purpose of integration,
On September '17, 20'1'1
Southhampton's East End Community Picnic will be held. All are invited.
PICNIC
Loretta has given merchant letter to Sister Margaret for translation. Greenpor~ (St Agnes) is having a picnic the same day
as ABTF's, which may affect the Spanish community par~icipation.
Merle praises collaborative efforts of people to make the ABTF flyers a success.
Jean and Eli have made contacts in Southold -merchants are supportive (checks are to be made to the Southold Town
ABTF on the memo line.)
Easel/cards to be made by Loretta to identify food donations.
Peter proposes idea of displaying ar~ on the inside of the fence at the picnic event.
Jumping house for kids will cost $250this year because owner can't put it up as he has a conflicting event commitment.
WE NEED SUPERVISION.
ROTC can't make a promise. How about Boy Scouts?
Committee will meet at Mikes Deli on July 25, '10 am.
Pat will donate a case of soda as she will not be able to attend the event.
Eli will bring macaroni.
Next meeting will be August 21,2011 10 am Town Hall.
