AIM2 and the FMU3500PIus. AIM2 is the most unique equipment item to be designed in the fuel management arena in many years. It truly takes the driver and guesswork out of accounting for fuel, odometer, and hour readings. The AIM2 is connected directly to the vehicle on-board computer. Thus, the information that it gathers comes directly fi.om the vehicle's computer, eliminating the need for calibration, etc. Also, two way communications exists between the AIM2 and the FMU3500Plus. This allows the system operator to program equipment fi.om the central controller software, send the information to the fuel island FMU, which in tums flashes the AIM2 in the vehicle when it arrives at the site. Vehicles do not have to be taken out of service to be programmed or to be updated. As well as odometer, the capability to extract other information fi.om the vehicle computer exists (e.g. engine idle hours, PTO hours, vehicle error codes, etc.). The AIM2 module can be used for any type of vehicle, such as Ford, GM, light vehicle, heavy vehicle, etc. The AIM2 module will determine by itself what type of computer it is interfacing with and set itself for that. Also, there is a pass through plug that is used to connect to the OBD or can bus, so the vehicle computer can be accessed by mechanics without having to remove the AIM2 connector. Lynda Cc: William Flannery; wcrabel@syntech-fuelmaster.com; William Ruland (rulandfarm@yahoo.com) Subject: RE: RFP for a Fuel Management System Hi Lynda, Attached is an MS Excel file containing two spreadsheets extracted from the Town's Capital Asset database that contains listings of equipment I identified as probable gasoline or diesel powered equipment. I attempted to remove all the chain saws, weed whackers and outboard motors, and think I got them all. Note that the first tab is a vehicle listing and the second tab is a listing of what I surmised to be other gasoline/diesel powered equipment. I suspect that most of the equipment on the first tab will need access devices; perhaps RFP offerers can make a recommendation on which equipment shown on the second tab should get access devices and which equipment should get some other treatment.
