HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/04/2011 Fishers Island Sewer District Advisory Committee July 4, 2011 - 10:30 AM 687 Whistler Avenue Fishers Island, NY 06390 Attendence: Louisa Evans, Dixon Harvey, Mike Roberts & Gordon Murphy Minutes Review mission statement. It was agreed to keep the current mission statement and to reaffirm that our mission was to support he Town and members in the district. The Fishers Island Sewer District Advisory Committee was established to be an advisory body to the Southold Town Board, the commissioner of the Fishers Island Sewer District. The committee will consist of stakeholders including Town Engineer, system users, and a Town Board liaison. The mission of this body is to facilitate communication and foster ideas to better manage the district in both the day-to-day and the long-term operations of the system in accordance with current Town Code. :2. Terms. It was agreed that the current body would sit for two years and discuss changes at that time. 3. Current activity was discussed · Review Grounds and Pump Station contracts were discussed. It was agreed that Louisa and Gordon would draft and circulate changes that would then be copied to DTC for review before being sent to the Town. The goal is to realign the duties and find a replacement for the current service provider. · The leaching field perimeter issue was discussed and we would ask DTC to comment on requirements and place a bid out for fall clean up. · Electrical meter, system alarm, generator service issues and Jamie Lane's contract were discussed. Electrical power issue needs to be reviewed with DTC, generator contractor and utility company to define issues. Likewise Gordon Murphy will discuss alarm system issues with DTC and contractor. 4. It was decided to have one physical annual meeting and the balance of the year would be via e-mail and telephonic. Other items: · Dixon proposed that that we should focus on sorting out the on island management of the system and then move to developing a long term plan including visual (camera) inspections and the necessity of developing a reserve fund. · Louisa agreed that she would keep the committee informed of the Town's hiring an engineer who' s responsibilities would include overseeing the FISD operations.
