HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/2011July 07, 2011 To: Town Board Fr: Phillip Beltz Re: JUNE 2011 SUMMARY REPORT-SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR Housinq: · Resale unit of the Cottages of Mattituck proceeds under contract, applicant has until August 1st to procure S©NYMA loan. · Facilitated Housing Advisory Commission meeting and disseminated minutes. · Follow-up with Family Service League's HomeShare Long Island program-- several queries to provide rental opportunities have come from the community. · Meeting with Town Attorney and Supervisor to discuss possible changes to affordable housing legislation, policies and procedures. Additional discussion with Town Board at work session. Youth: · Facilitated Youth Bureau Board meeting and disseminated minutes. · Hosted pizza party celebration for departing Youth Advisory Council seniors. Interviewed additional applicant for YAC. · Finalized Suffolk County Department of Labor youth summer employment program, interviewed applicants (4)--provided orientation and met with SC program coordinator. · Attended Suffolk County Youth Bureau director's meeting. Working with East End youth bureau directors to develop strategies to sustain youth bureaus, assisted with preparation of report for promoting outcomes. · Attended East End Gang Awareness planning conference meeting. · Attended North Fork Alliance presentation of John Venza regarding youth substance use/abuse co-sponsored by Youth Bureau at Mattituck High School. Loss Control Proqram and Executive Safety Committee: · Preparatory meetings with Jen Andaloro, National EAP and Wright Risk Mgt. to finalize training for OSHA compliance as well as annual Workplace Violence Prevention training. · Facilitated four training opportunities in month of June, approximately 90% of employees attended training--Sandi Berliner to follow-up with non-attendees. Community Development: · Received notice of 15% reduction of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding allocations for 2011--facilitated meeting of CDBG reviewing committee to make recommendations to Town Board. Amended SC project description forms for sub-recipients. Comprehensive Plan: · Attended one team meeting that focused on the draft of Community Character chapter. Attended Community Character meeting with the public at the Recreation Center. · In preparation for Parks and Recreation chapter, met with recreation staff to review survey responses received from the public (over 100). In addition, Jim McMahon provided site visit to update inventory of Town beaches and parks. Other: · Attended website development meeting to review comments from public meeting. · Represented Town as liaison at meeting in Hauppauge for Suffolk County Industrial and Commercial Incentive Board. · With Supervisor, attended County Executive's meeting for SC supervisors. · On behalf of Supervisor, attended East End Supervisors and Village Mayors meeting at Brookhaven National Lab. · Interviewed by John Viteritti of Hamptons.com regarding Town's affordable housing policies and initiatives.
