DEVELOPED COAST POLICIES Policy 1 Foster a pattern of development in the Town of Southold that enhances community character, preserves open space, makes efficient use of infrastructure, makes beneficial use of a coastal location, and minimizes adverse effects of development. Our proposal is consistent with this policy in that this is a navigational aid used by boaters. Our proposal is to make better use oftbe existing dock which allows thc public to visit thc lighthouse. Policy 2 Preserve historic resources of the Town of Southold. This lighthouse is a historic structure. Our proposal is minor but will enhance the ability to better access the lighthouse. Currently, the dock is just too short and the ramp is too steep. The 9' extension will give enough length for boats to avoid the existing rock. Policy 3 Enhance visual quality and protect scenic resources throughout the Town of Southoid. Our proposal will not have a negative impact on the visual quality or scenic resources. Our proposal is minor in size and will not alter the overall appearance of the lighthouse.
