Monthly Report
Date: April 2011
· Met and submitted information to FEMA, NYSDEC, NYSDOS and
Army Corps. for permits in reference to the December 26 &
December 27, 2010 storm (Town Beach, McCabe's Beach, Kenny's
Beach and the erosion along Sound View Avenue).
· Attended a meeting of the Executive Safety Committee.
· Held several conversations with Verizon in reference to the removal
of 12 LIPA/Verizon poles at the Bittner Preserve.
· On going trail maintenance on Laurel Lake, Downs Farm,
Arshamomaque, Arshamomaque Pond, Dam Pond and Mill Road
Preserves.
· Met with Toni Booth in reference to a photograph exhibit in the
Peconic Community Center.
· Receive bids for the installation of carpeting of the Peconic
Community Center.
· Met several times with Laure Klahre from the Land Preservation
Office, in reference to stewardship & management plans.
· The beach grass and shrubs that were planted at the Bittner
Preserve as part of an Eagle Scout project had a great survival rate
(+98%).
· Attended a walk through of the Scavenger Waste Plant with Village
of Greenport officials, Councilman Vinny Orlando, Chris Dwyer,
from McLean Associates, 3amie Richter and the President of DF
Stone and his foreman to go over the close out plans for the facility.
· Cut a trench and installed a line in the Highway Yard for the new
fuel management system.
· Continuing work with Lori Hulse and the Army Corps of Engineers
in reference to the Mattituck Inlet Dredging Project.
· Met with Laura Klahre and Jeff Standish in reference to several
items the Land Preservation Committee would like DPW to address.
· Filled several pot holes on Shore Road (Stackler Preserve).
· Meeting at Town Beach with John Hocker from Latham Sand
Gravel in reference to beach nourishment project.
· Constructed 12 wooden boxes for a Recycling Project (plastic bottles)
at Town Parks.
· Dumped material in the hole in back of the Town bulkhead at the
end of Mill Road, Mattituck. This bulkhead may need to be replaced
in 2012.
· Installed new soccer nets at Old School House Park, East Marion
and repairs to were made to 2 soccer goals that were damaged at
Strawberry Fields Fairgrounds.
· An annual inspection and service has been completed on all of the
Town's generators. This in addition to the monthly service and
maintenance.
· The Information booths in Laurel and Greenport have been opened
for the season
· Installed wind screens on tennis courts at Tasker and Cochran
Parks.
