To whom it may concern;
This letter requests a site visit on Wed, Dec. 8th to 2555 Kirkup Lane, Mattituck, NY to inspect
an existing bulkhead and dock. Attached are:
1. Authorization from the present owner's attorney to conduct this site visit,
2. An email from George Hammarth of the NYSDEC which evidences the issuance of a
NYSDEC tidal wetlands permit (FW 15275-0146 SP) in 1980 for resurfacing the
bulkhead that was, in 1980, and is presently, in place. Also attached is the card from the
DEC card file. Unfortunately, the original permit has been lost by the owner, and, due to
the age of the file going back to 1980, the DEC file was discarded from the NYSDEC
offices. There also exists a short dock structure for which no permits can be located.
Presently, no paperwork can be found that indicates a permit was issued by the Town Trustees or
Town Board for this bulkhead repair back in 1980, or installation of a dock. The purpose of this
request is to have the Trustees look firsthand at the site and gain their advice on how to legalize
the existing installation. My husband and I are presently in negotiations to purchase this property
and feel it important to know how to handle this situation before proceeding with the purchase.

Hi Rob:
It looks like DEC did receive an application (application # FW 15275-0146 SP) from Aldo &
Ruth Jahier in April 1980 for a Freshwater Wetlands permit to reface about 60 feet of existing
bulkheading on Laurel Lake. A permit was issued for this activity on May 30, 1980 and expired
September 30, 1981. We don't have this file any more because files for permits / applications this
old were discarded a long time ago. Thanks for making me feel old, this one went down when I
was finishing up my freshman year in college!
The record (attached) from our old card file is all that remains of this one. Sorry it isn't more.
