Box 253 Peconic, N.Y. 11958 RE: 5600 Indian Neck Ln (garage alteration) SCTM: 98 5 13 Dear Ms. Wood, Please be advised that your Building Permit #21815 issued December 4th, 1993 has expired. According to the Code of the Town of Southold, a Certificate of Occupancy must be issued prior to use of the structure. To renew your Building Permit, please submit a fee of 100.00; at that time we can schedule an inspection by one of our Building Inspector's. If you have any questions, please call us at 631-765-1802. Respectfully, SOUTHOLD TOWN BUILDING DEPT. November 1993 Gary Fish has been aware of the enclosed illegal situation for almost two months and has not taken action on it. He is not doing his job and selectively enforcing the building code. Mrs. Wood knew she was doing something illegal. If you check you will find that the entrance to her illegal quarters is in the back of her garage. Mr. Jimenez is definitely living in he~ garage. He had a telephone installed and a separate electrical service under his name. I am notifying you so you can investigate this illegal situation and do something about it or make Mr. Fish do his job. October, 1993 '. Dear Mr. Fish, I live on Sm/th Lane in Peconic. Several years ago I was served a violation notice for doing some work without a building permit or a variance from the zoning board. It has come to my attention that Patricia Wood, who lives on Indian Neck Lane in Peconic, has put an extension on her garage before getting a building permit and was not served with a violation notice and made to pay a fine like I was. I know she goes around town saying that she controls the politicians in Southold because of her newspaper, but I did not think it was true. I would like to know how she can get away with the following violations when everyone else in the town of Southold must follow the building codes and zoning regulations. Examples: 1. Extension is not up to code a. 2 by 4 walls instead of 2 by 6 b. no footings under the extension 2. No variance for living quarters in her garage 3. Heat, s!nk, shower and cooking in her garage 4. Her gardener is living in her garage and paying rent 5. Her garage is no longer a garage but living quarters (no car can be put in the ~gkrage) 6. No underwriter's certificate 7. No okay by the Board of Health for water and septic system 8. No safe fire code escape mandates Please see to it that Pan/cia Wood conforms to the building code and gets variances -"~:~-where appropriate. Also give her citations for all her violations and have her appear in c.ourt and pay a fine like every other resident in Southold has to do under the same czrcumstances. I will be checldng the legal notices in Town Hall to see if you are following up on this matter. I can't believe that she is getting preferential treatment by the Republican Administration. Sincerely, A Concerned Taxpayer
