LOSS CONTROL PROGRAM EXECUTIVE SAFETY COMMITTEE
Minutes of May 09, 2011
Present: Councilman William Ruland, Chief Carlisle Cochran, Police, Karen McLaughlin, Human Services
Director, James McMahon, Deputy PublicWorks, Peter Harris, Superintendent of Highways, Jim Bunchuck,
Solid Waste Coordinator, Christine Foster, Personnel, John Cushman, Comptroller, Elizabeth Neville, Town
Clerk, Jen Andaloro, Assistant Town Attorney, Sandra Berliner, Secretary to Supervisor and Phillip Beltz,
Special Projects Coordinator. Also present, Susan Ciervo Boyle, Wright Risk Management. Excused:
Supervisor Scott Russell.
Minutes of April 04, 2011:
Approved.
Workplace Violence Prevention Update: · Review of Incidents-One incident reported.
· Resolution of Incident-Upon investigation, incident not deemed "workplace
violence."
· Workplace Violence Prevention Training for 2011-Unanimous decision from
committee for the National EAP to provide training and utilize training as a
vehicle to advertise their services.

WVP Training and PESH Training Dates:
1 to 3 p.m. Recreation Center
1 to 3 p.m. Human Resource Center
8 to 9:30 a.m. Town Hall Meeting Room
1 to 3 p.m. Recreation Center
A "2011 Employee Safety Survey" was reviewed and will be disseminated prior to
the training to measure perceptions of safety.
Other Incidents Relatinq to Workplace Safety:
Elevator in Annex Building-Jen, John and Phillip met with Capital One. They reported
that the elevator is serviced regularly and they will develop signage what to do in the
event of emergency. This will also be distributed to all staff and committees.
PESH Traininq Requirements: Wright Risk Mgt. will provide training as follows:
Review of HazCom (15 minutes)-DPW, HIGHWAY, HRC, TRANSFER
Discussion of Town policies and procedures relating to exposure control
(15 minutes) with handout to be written by Jen and Phillip-DPW,
HIGHWAY, HRC, TRANSFER
o Bloodborne pathogens (30 minutes)-DPW, HIGHWAY, HRC,
TRANSFER. Jen will develop sign-in sheet for employees requesting
hepatitis B shots that will indicate the process/procedure for getting shots
(Dr. Schiff, payment will be charged to the employee's respective
department, declination form, etc.)
o Training of Susan Boyle regarding Common Office Chemicals-
VOLUNTARY FOR CLERICAL STAFF
o Seasonal staff will be trained at Recreation Center on June 15th. New
employees will be given copies of DVDs until they take annual training.
HazCom Plan-Jen reported that department heads have forwarded MSDS sheets
and the plan will be distributed to the Town Board for discussion/adoption.
All Care Waste Services: Karen reported that the red bags and sharps containers
will be delivered to Town Hall, Annex, Transfer Station for employees. The Police Dept.
has the equipment..
Work-related Iniuries (March 2011): Several incidents with no absences, no
comments.
