BOARD PLANNING BOARD MEMBERS John Wickham, Chairman Henry Moisa Alfred Grebe William Unkelbach M'iN~UTE S SOUTHOLD TOWN' PLANNING' BOARD January 10, 1967 A regular meeting of'the Southold Town Planning Board was held at7:30 P.M., Tuesday, January 10, 1967, at the Town Office, Main Road, Southold, New York. There were present: Messrs: John~ Wickham, Chairman; HenryMoisa, Alfred Grebe,. William Unkelbach. Also present: Otto Van Tuyl, Consultant; Howard Terry, Building Inspector. Howard~erryreported that the County--Water Survey was going to make two test~wells in the Town of Southold. One test~well will Road at the head of BOwery'~Lane, Southold., the will be located atAlvah's Lane, Cutchouge. Both test ~ wells Will be 400 feet deep. Howard' Terry also reported that ~the~Village of Greenporthas r.equested first option on a water franchise for %he Town of Southold. A letter was received from Southampton Township Preservation Society, Inc.~. Enclosed with said letter were the following reports: 1) report on the Underground~Water Resources of Southampton Town by'Dr.- A. Nelson Sayrew formerly'Chief of Underground Water Branch, U-.S. Geological Survey; 2) Sanitary Engineering Survey of the Town of Southamptonby John P. Mahoney~ Sanitary Engineer, formerly with the Suffolk County HealthDepartment. These were forwareded to Ernest Whitlock for his study. .~. Southold Town Planning Board -2- January 10, 1967 A letter was received from Mr.,, Lee Koppleman,~ inviting Mr. John'Wickham, to attend the seminar of Oceangraphic Committee to be held at Hauppauge County'Center, on January 25, 1967. A letter was ~,x~ sent to Flr. Lee Koppleman advising him that Fir. Wickham will be out of Town on thedate of the meeting, however, a representative of the Southold Town Planning Board will be present. The Chairman reported that George Bird was going to make an application to the Town Trustees for dredging a canal. The dredging will be done between the present canal and an old natural gutter. The Board felt this could be recommended to the Town Trustees if it was for not more than 300 feet and not m~re than six feet deep and under no circumstances go ~x into sand. The Chairmanalso reported that'Russell Case will be making an applicationto the Town Trustees to scoop up some of the bog and double it up to improve the golfcourse, located in Cutchogue. The Board felt this could also be recommendedto the Town Trustees, however, it should not-be any more ~than three feet deep, and under no c~rcumstan ces dig into sand. On motion by Mr. Moisa, seconded by Mr. Grebe, it was RESOLVED that the minutes of the Southold Town Planning Board dated November 15, 196~, be approved as submitted. Vote of the Board: Ayes:-'ALL On.motion by'Mr. Grebe, seconded by Mr. Unkelbach, it was RESOLVED that the minutes of the Southold Town Planning Board datedDecember 13, 1966, be approved as submitted. Vote of the Board: Ayes:- Otto Van Tuyl reported that the development by~Hen~y'Smith, to be entitled South Harbor'Homes shall be c~mnged to'LaUghing Waters~ Section II. It was also reported that~the CountyBoard of Health will not accept wells in theihighHay. The'Chairman felt-that Henry~'Smithhad three alternatives as follows: 1) Village water; 2) put in private water system; 3) cut ,~-~ dwon waterfront lots and have place for wells. On motion by Mr. Wickham, seconded by Mr.~ Moisa~ it was Southold Town Planning Board -3- January 10,. 1967 RESOLVED that the minutes of the Southold Town Planning Board dated December 20, 1966, be approved as submitted. Vote of the Board: Ayes:-- Mr. Howard Terry reported that Southold ToWn plans to install a life 9uard~ floats, and have a public swimming area at Laurel Lake, Laurel, N.Y.~ The Board discussed the progress of work on'Cleaves Point Section III. There was a report that'the fresh water was running off'into the saltwater. The Board agreed to have Mr. Lawrence Tuthill, P.E.' Check this out. The next regular meeting of the Southold Town-Planning Board will be held at 7:'30 P.M., Monday, February'13, 1967, at the'Town Office~ Main Road, Southold~' New York.
