HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/11/2009 Town of Southold Housing advisory con~nisSion MEETING MINUTES MEETING #39 March 11,2009, Present: Jenny Gould, John Vahey, Nancy Pester, Don Leslie, Jr., Leslie Weisman, LeRoy Heyliger and Phillip Beltz. Excused: Rona Smith, Margaret Minichini, Bill Gatz and Lori Pfeiffer. The meeting began at 5:35 p.m. Review of Minutes: Minutes approved for February 11,2009. Nassau and Suffolk County Housinq Forum: Phillip reported that he attended forum with Long Island municipalities featuring Commissioner Deborah Van Amerongen, New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, to highlight the state's proposed budget priorities relating to affordable housing. Most funding will support programs relating to weatherization, community development and foreclosure assistance. HAC Vacancies: LeRoy, John and Rona requested re-appointments to the Commission. Lori Pfeiffer regrettably submitted a resignation and will be replaced. Cottaqes at Mattituck Update: The annual certification of resident compliance is required by May 31st and the AHD legislation also requires that a notification of current sales price be submitted to homeowners no later than March 31st. The Consumer Price Index has increased 1.0154% in one year. Letters will be mailed containing both elements. Phillip also informed the HAC that there is a possible resale forthcoming, an owner had expressed via email that he may be selling his unit to purchase a new house. Phillip has spoken with the Town Attorney and CDCLI regarding the process (if it materializes) for resale and the unit would be marketed to those original 49 participants in the lottery. Jenny Gould disagreed with the process stating that the list would be "outdated". Phillip said he would seek further clarification with CDCLI and the Town Attorney. Apartment Recommendations Draft: The draft was further reviewed and finalized. It was suggested that Phillip forward the finalized draft to the Town Board for comments and to query if they would like to discuss with the HAC prior to their meeting with the public. Planninq of Public Forum: Deferred. Next Meetinq Date: Because Passover begins on the April 8th, the next meeting will be on April 15, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall, Supervisor's conference room.
