MEETING ~22
September 19, 2007
Present: John Vahey, Margaret Minichini, Leslie Weisman, Bill Gatz, Jenny Gould,
Rona Smith, Supervisor Scott Russell and Phillip Beltz. Excused: Leah GIowacki,
Sidney Holmes, Don Leslie, Jr. and Nancy Pester. The meeting began at 5:35 p.m.
Review of Minutes:
The July 18th minutes were approved.
Cottaqes/CDCLI Update
· Ribbon cutting is scheduled for October 30th at 1 1 a.m. It will focus on the
families moving into the Cottages.
Affordable Housinq Le,qislative Chanqes:
· Supervisor Russell spoke with the Commission regarding a proposed concept to
amend the formula for inclusionary zoning buyout options as well as an additional
opportunity to utilize monies in the Housing Fund towards no-interest loans to
purchase homes on the open market. A concept paper was distributed and the
details will be further discussed.
Adaptive Re-use of Existinq Stock:
· Suffolk County maintains a list of properties in foreclosure that they will provide to
the Town for affordable housing. Several sites will be considered in the future.
· Phillip suggested that HAC maintain an inventory of commercial sites that could
be developed for affordable housing. Members did not agree that this was
appropriate for it may be construed that the Town approves of sites being
developed.
Other:
· The HAC will focus efforts towards the development of accessory apartments.
This will be done in concert with the hamlet stakeholder recommendations.
