HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/18/2007 Town of Southold Housing advisory con~nisSion MEETING ~21 July 18, 2007 Present: Don Leslie, Jr., Leslie Weisman, Nancy Pester, Bill Gatz, Jenny Gould, Rona Smith and Phillip Beltz. Excused: Margaret Minichini, Leah GIowacki, Sidney Holmes and John Yahey. The meeting began at 5:40 p.m. Review of Minutes: The May 16th minutes were approved. There are no minutes from the June 20th meeting as it was a presentation to the public from the Long Island Progressive Coalition. Cottaqes/CDCLI Update · Applicant Status-22 units in contract: 19 purchasers have mortgage commitments · Construction Update-if construction proceeds at existing pace, they anticipate closing units in October Housin,cl Implementation Plan (HIP): The Town Board adopted the plan on June 19th after the public hearing. Affordable Housinq Le,clislative Chanqes: · The Town Board further reviewed changes at the Code Committee meeting last week. The Planning Dept. will work with the Special Projects Coordinator to further the discussion of proposed recommendations. Affordable Housinq Developments: · An affordable housing development site (solar) is proceeding with discussion. A meeting with Suffolk County will further establish its viability. · Rona informed the Commission of her proposed affordable housing development in Greenport Village, 11 units (2 and 3 bedrooms). It was very well received by the Suffolk County Planning Board and will be heard by the Village Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday, July 25 at 5 p.m. at the Firehouse on Third Street. She would appreciate any support from the HAC. · Nancy stated that a contact at the County regarding veterans mentioned that there are 70 rental units in the village of Greenport. This number seemed very high and she will try to find out more concrete information for the next meeting. Presentation-Lonq Island Proqressive Coalition: · Notes from the June 20th discussion were distributed. Other: · Hamlet stakeholder discussion of process and outcomes to date. For Distribution: New York Times, Newsday, Suffolk Times and Independent-Traveler Watchman. Next Meetinq Date: August 15, 2007, 5:30 p.m. at the Human Resource Ctr.
