MEETING # 7
April 19, 2006
Present: Jenny Gould, John Vahey, Leslie Weisman, Leah Glowacki, Rona
Smith, Margaret Minichini, Don Leslie, Jr., Sidney Holmes, Lynda
Clements, Councilman Albert Krupski, Jr. and Phillip Beltz.
Excused: Charlie Zaloom.
The meeting commenced at 5:35 p.m.
Review o[ Minutes:
Minutes approved for February 15th and March 15th.
Capital Improvements Policy:
Many ideas were discussed and Phillip will incorporate this information
within the draft. He will forward it to Leslie for additional editing. It will
be forwarded to Commission members before the next meeting for further
discussion. Once the Commission is in agreement, it will be forwarded to
the Town Board for their review.
Other:
Councilman Krupski, Jr. briefly discussed the Town Board's commitment to
implementing hamlet study findings, including the proposed HALO zones.
Leslie stressed the importance of the HAC working in concert with the
stakeholder findings to seek out potential sites for affordable housing,
including rehabilitation. HAC members stated they are amenable working
with stakeholder findings and attending future stakeholder meetings.
Housing Implementation Plan (HIP):
Discussion deferred until next meeting, however, the following points were
made that may be included in the plan:
· Partner with local contractors to build affordable housing, in
particular, rehabilitation of existing stock that could promote
apartments.
· Collaborate with local housing providers (Community Land Trust,
North Fork Housing Alliance, etc.) to address housing needs and to
leverage resources.
· Solicit funding for the Housing Fund.
The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
