HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/09/2011 Town of Southold Housing advisory commisSion MEETING MINUTES MEETING #57 March 09, 2011 Present: Jenny Gould, Beth Motschenbacher, John Vahey, Michael Herbert, LeRoy Heyliger, Rona Smith, Jeanne Kelly & Phillip Beltz. Also present, Karen McLaughlin, Director of Human Services, Southold Town. Excused: Nancy Pester Absent: Stephen Kiely Approval of Minutes: Minutes approved for February 09, 2011. Guest Speaker: Doreen Davidson, Family Service League, HomeShare Long Island Program presented their services that enable seniors as well as other homeowners the ability to rent rooms in their residences. In addition to offering affordable housing for renters, the program allows extra income for homeowners and companionship for seniors. Agreed that the HAC and Senior Services will initiate educational forums and community outreach beginning in the month of May that recognizes "Older American's Month." Update of Resale of Cottaqes: The contract in process has terminated and a new buyer on the waiting list will pursue procuring a contract. Habitat for Humanity Recap; They expressed interest to work with the Town and specifically are looking at rehabilitation of existing sites. John Vahey- Federal Housin,cl Finance A,clency House Price Index: Tabled until next month. Comprehensive Plan Update: The timeline has been revised. Beth Motschenbacher- Southampton Sales Price and Rental Formula Multipliers and Housinq Affordability Report: Tabled until next meeting. Expiration/Renewal of Terms: Jenny Gould will not renew her term, LeRoy Heyliger will. Distribution: Newsday 02.11.11, Southampton Press 02.17.11 and Dept. of the Treasury "Reforming America's Housing Finance Market." Other: Leslie Weisman informed Phillip that she would be willing to meet with the HAC to discuss educating the public regarding revised accessory apartment code.
