LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
TOWN OF SOUTHOLD
October 4, 1996
MEETING
RECEIVED
OCT 7 1996
[own Clef& outh°ld
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1996
Present were: Joe Gold, Michael Croteau, Fred Lee, Jim Pim and
Ruth Oliva.
Joe Gold has been busy working on a Federal grant with the National
Resources Conservation Service. Evidentally, they have monies that
are designated for the preservation for farmland. Since the Federal
fiscal year ends on September 30th, the money designated for land
preservation cannot be carried over to the next year so it has to be
spent. Southold meets the criteria for the grant. These monies are
to be used exclusively for the purchase of development rights for the
preservation of farmland. The grant will be for $100,000.00.
Joe has been checking on the properties we had received applications
for and which were put aside until we received money from the bond
issue. Joe asked each of the members to check a property and do an
evaluation on it.
With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned
at 8:20 p.m.
Respectfully submitted
M. Wilkins
Secretary
