HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-08/05/1993 Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on August 5, 1993 at the Park District Office on Main Road, Mattituck, New York at 7:30 P.M. with all Commissioners and officers present. Chairman Adams called the meeting to order. On motion of Pete Sabat, seconded by Jerry Goehringer and carried the minutes of the July meeting were approved as presented. Mr. Joe entered the meeting. He spoke with the Commissioners about opening the Breakwater concession where he would sell hot dogs, hamburgers, soda, ice cream and candy. The Commissioners told him there would be an amount of repair work to be done and health permits to be gotten. He was told that our attorney would be consulted about renting the concession rather than bidding and we would get back to him. He left the meeting. Mr. Kevin Terry has asked for reimbursement for the damage done to the porta potties at the ball park. They had been tipped over. The Soccer people (Joe Shipman, Donald Deerkoski, Paul Wilsberg) owe $34.50 for porta potties and the Little League owes $295 for porta potties. These amounts are for reimbursement to the Park District for their usage. After a discussion, the Commissioners unanimously agreed to leave the road at Bailey's Beach just the way it is. Ed Adams reported that the Park District truck had had a minor accident. It was backed into someone at 7-11. It was reported that the building at the Breakwater had been torn apart with sinks broken etc. No one has heard anything as of yet as to who might have done it. The beaches were all inspected by the Health Department. Vetts Park site did not get any bad marks. Breakwater beach: Life Guard, Terry Anderson was not in possession of her CPR card but she does have one; the sign with on duty and off duty hours was not big enough; log book was not there; no soap in the dispensers; no telephone (it was at Barbara Droskoski's). Mr. Cybulski got back to Ed Adams about the shuffle board. At this time he doesn't recommend doing anything. He has also heard about another substance which could be used as a patch. Nothing has been done about the cracks in the tennis courts on Bay Avenue. Jerry suggested filling cracks with substance used in gunnite swimming pools. Ed Adams to discuss further with Mr. Cybulski. Bill received for irrigation from S & L: $700 for turning on and off and winterizing; also a monthly charge of $45.00 per month for all three locations. Pete Sabat was asked to call Briarcliff. Another electrician is to be called for an estimate for the material and wiring at the Park District office. CommisSioners were approached by someone interested in starting an Over 30 Hard Ball League in the fall on Sunday afternoons at Aldrich Lane. Commissioners agreed it would be alright with a fee for the use of the field of $200.00 for the season plus a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy. Pete Sabat reported telephone poles have been put out by Joe Shipman and himself for the parking field at Aldrich Lane. At this time nothing further is going to be done for the parking lot. On motion of Jerry Goehringer, seconded by Peter Sabat and carried, Betty Tyler is to receive a raise for this year from $2,250.00 to $2,350.00. On motion of Jerry Goehringer, seconded by Pete Sabat and carried, $22,000.00 appropriated fund balance is to be used for property repairs. John Cushman, Treasurer reported having received the renewal general insurance of the District. There was a 10% increase. On motion of Pete Sabat, seconded by Jerry Goehringer and carried, collision is to be dropped on the pick-up. On motion of Jerry Goehringer, seconded by Peter Sabat and carried the Treasurer's report as follows was approved as well as the attached schedule of bills to be paid: Cash (Now Account) Money Market Account MBIA/Class Total $ 1,405.60 26,684.79 111,862.22 $139,952.61 (See attached sheet for bills ordered paid.
