HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-06/02/1994 Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District, held on June 2, 1994 at the Park District office on Main Road, Mattituck, New York with all Commissioners and Treasurer present. Commissioner Adams called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. At the request of Commissioner Adams, a moment of silence was observed in memory of Felix Bialeski, Sr., who passed away on May 26, 1994. The Commissioners requested that a letter of sympathy be sent to the Bialeski family extending their sincere condolences, as Mr. Bialeski was instrumental in making improvements to many District facilities, including the installation of the Yacht Club ball field and various other projects. Commissioner Adams read correspondence from the Mattituck Historical Society regarding continuation of mowing the Historical Society lawn. The Society maintains insurance for Park District employees while on Society premises. At the suggestion of Commissioner Goehringer, in view of the fact that the District has recently purchased a new mower, Commissioner Adams will contact the Society to request that they provide some financial assistance for this service. Commissioner Adams reported that the District has purchased a new Hustler mower, that all chain link fences have been repaired, and that the net may be hung at the Yacht Club field. Commissioner Sabat reported that the lights are installed at the ball fields. In addition, Breakwater Beach has been cleaned, although Commissioner Goehringer has observed more debris on the beach since it was cleaned. O0 $ 19,815.72 On a motion by Commissioner Adams, seconded by Commissioner Goehringer and unanimously carried, the dirt driveway between the road and paved driveway at Bailey Beach will be regraded and crushed concrete applied at a cost of $600. On a motion by Commissioner Adams, seconded by Commissioner Goehringer and unanimously carried, new CCA fencing will be installed at the Love Lane site. On a motion by Commissioner Goehringer, seconded by Commissioner Adams and unanimously carried, Dwight Edstrom wiil be contracted to place 3 or 4 new poles at the Love Lane site fixed pier. On a motion by Commissioner Goehringer, seconded by Commissioner Adams and unanimously carried, LouTs Service Station will repair the Ford pickup brakes. Commissioner Adams reported that the following appraisals were received on the Sacks Property on Westphalia Road: 1. Celic Realty - $ 17,300; cost of appraisal $300 2. Stype Realty - $ 30,000; cost of appraisal $500 On a motion by Commissioner Goehringer, seconded by Commissioner Adams and unanimously carried, a permissive referendum is to be placed on the ballot at the August, 1994 budget vote for sale of the property at a price of $18,100 (Celie's appraised value plus cost of two appraisals). On a motion by Commissioner Goehringer, seconded by Commissioner Adams and unanimously carried, the following 1994 budget modification was approved: Revenues: Appropriated Fund Balance $8,560 Appropriations: Equipment $8,500 Permits 60 Items were discussed for inclusion on the 1995 budget proposal, including a power sweeper ($5300), playground slide and swings for Veteran's Park ($2500), new bocci court ($3000), paving part of Veteran's Park parking field ($8500), employee salaries (Secretary $1600; Treasurer $1800; Beach Manager $2700, Ramp Attendant $2500; all other employees, 3% increases), new ropes for Veteran's Park ($500) and commissioners fees ($500). Treasurer Cushman was directed to include these items in the budget proposal for further review at the July meeting. Commissioner Goehringer will investigate improvements to the Beach House at Breakwater Beach, including interior renovations and construction of a concrete porch. Treasurer Cushman was directed to order three additional credit ca~ds from Sunoco. With no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 8:05 P.M. on a motion by Commissioner Adams, seconded by Commissioner Goehringer and unanimously approved.
