HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-07/07/1994 Minutes of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held at the Park District Office on July 7, 1994 with all Commissioners and officers present. Meeting was called to order of 7:32 P.M. by Chairman Adams. The minutes of the May and June meeting were approved as presented on motion of Pete Sabat, seconded by Jerry Goehringer and carried. Joe Avella from Bailey Beach Road introduced himself to the meeting. Mr. Avelta was present to complain about the 4-wheel drives, the drinking and drug situation at Bailey's Beach Road. Mr. Adams explained that if the youth are on the road and the beach ~ediately in front of the road, the problem belonged to the Town of Southold. Southold Town police should be called. It was Mr. Adams understanding that the Highway Department was to have put a guard rail completely across the road from dune to dune. Mr. Avella listened to the Commissioners who in turn thanked him for coming. The Commissioners hoped that the information they gave him might help the situation. Jim Cox is to get a piece of guard rail to do the west side of the parking lot at the Breakwater site. The up-grading of the concession on the Breakwater site was discussed with Mr. Adams saying that Mr. Sandback has been contacted for plans for same. The cost of securing all permits needed to start construction on the site will be $1200.00. The vote for adoption of the 1995 budget and the referendum of the sale of the Westphalia Road property to William Guyton will be held at the Park District office on August 16, 1994 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Mrs. Droskoski has had difficulty with the life guards. The shoal is so close to shore that there is a need for two life guards at the Breakwater site. Mrs. Droskoski has hired two more life guards. The hepatitus shots for the new life guards will be paid for by the Park District. It was reported that the concession had been broken into, but no leads on who. Kevin Terry pulled out the porta potties at the ball park site on Peconic Bay Boulevard because he could not take the loss the all the damages. Bob Born is to build an enclosure or fence with a gate around a porta potty so that it could be equipped. District to pay for enclosure, slo-pitch league to maintain it. Authorization was given for the purchase of a new push mower. One mower was lost off the trailer. Sweepers were discussed. Jerry was impressed with the demonstration. He wil get prices for the push sweeper and the attached sweeper. On motion of Jerry Goehringer, seconded by Pete Sabat and carried, the above employees were approved. EDT, at the Matt/tuck Park District Office, Main Road, Mattituck, Hew York, for the following purposes: PROPOSITION ~ To vote on the following resolution: "P~ESOLVED that the Board of Com~issioners of the Mattituck Park District be empowered to sell the following described property to William M.
