HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-07/07/1994 Minutes of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park
District held at the Park District Office on July 7, 1994 with
all Commissioners and officers present.
Meeting was called to order of 7:32 P.M. by Chairman Adams.
The minutes of the May and June meeting were approved as
presented on motion of Pete Sabat, seconded by Jerry Goehringer
and carried.
Joe Avella from Bailey Beach Road introduced himself to the
meeting. Mr. Avelta was present to complain about the 4-wheel
drives, the drinking and drug situation at Bailey's Beach Road.
Mr. Adams explained that if the youth are on the road and the
beach ~ediately in front of the road, the problem belonged to
the Town of Southold. Southold Town police should be called. It
was Mr. Adams understanding that the Highway Department was to
have put a guard rail completely across the road from dune to
dune. Mr. Avella listened to the Commissioners who in turn
thanked him for coming. The Commissioners hoped that the
information they gave him might help the situation.
Jim Cox is to get a piece of guard rail to do the west side
of the parking lot at the Breakwater site.
The up-grading of the concession on the Breakwater site was
discussed with Mr. Adams saying that Mr. Sandback has been
contacted for plans for same. The cost of securing all permits
needed to start construction on the site will be $1200.00.
The vote for adoption of the 1995 budget and the referendum
of the sale of the Westphalia Road property to William Guyton
will be held at the Park District office on August 16, 1994 from
7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
Mrs. Droskoski has had difficulty with the life guards. The
shoal is so close to shore that there is a need for two life
guards at the Breakwater site. Mrs. Droskoski has hired two more
life guards. The hepatitus shots for the new life guards will be
paid for by the Park District.
It was reported that the concession had been broken into,
but no leads on who.
Kevin Terry pulled out the porta potties at the ball park
site on Peconic Bay Boulevard because he could not take the loss
the all the damages. Bob Born is to build an enclosure or fence
with a gate around a porta potty so that it could be equipped.
District to pay for enclosure, slo-pitch league to maintain it.
