Chairman Ed Adams sworn the inspectors of election in at 7:00 P.M. and declare the polls open for the vote on the 1992 budget. Chai~an Ed Adams called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. Minutes were tabeled. The Commissioners reviewed Betty Tyler's work status for the year. Ed Adams reported that we do not have any health permits for the beaches. Gerry Goehringer filled the applications out right then and were to be mailed the following day. The Town Highway Superintendent met with Vector Control regarding the cave-in at the ball park site on the Boulevard. Vector Control cannot contribute to the fund because they have no money. Ray Jacobs, Highway Superintendent, brought a survey of 1983 showing the culvert and light poles. If Vector Control would supply the man power and get permits, Ray Jacobs would due the digging. The District would supply the materials. However, the exact figure of the costs has not been produced. Dan Ross, attorney, suggested putting a fence around the area that drops down. A lock is to be put on the electric panel at the Aldrich Lane site. Secretary instructed to write a letter of thanks to Peter Orlowski and Ray and Scott Thilberg for taking down the flag at the Love Lane site before the hurricane hit. Ed Adams said there is someone interested in opening the concession at the Breakwater. A general discussion was had on the matter regarding health aspects and other pertinent facts and the matter was then tabeled for a later date. Tim Poplaski, the concessionaire at the Veterans Park site, has the option to renew it next year. He asked that in place of paying for the concession, he would like to donate the generator he bought to the Park Commission for use at the concession. Pending the approval of the attorneys, Pete Sabat made a motion to accept the proposal, seconded by Gerry Goehringer and carried. James Hinsch, President of the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce, spoke with the Commissioners of the District regarding using balled Christmas Trees in the shopping centers and then planting them after Christmas. He wanted to know if the District, after the Chamber strips the trees, would remove the trees and plant them. The Commissioners agreed to the above as long as the trees were still alive. Mr. Siegmund entered the meeting with questions regarding the 1992 budget. His main objection was the fact that there is no general meeting informing the public of the budget and allowing for questions to be asked. The Commissioners thanked him for his input and would do everything they possibly could to keep the public informed.
