Members of West Beach Association and Captain Kid Association attended the meeting and were welcomed by Mr. Adams, Chairman of the Board of Mattituck Park Commissioners. A sign-in sheet of visitors is attached. Ed Lydia Tortora spoke about the Breakwater Beach. The guard railing on the jetty side is broken and beach buggies are going through. The material that was pushed up to make the berm has been plowed through and a runway for beach vehicles has been made going to Inlet Drive and to Sound Beach. Mr. Witschieben would like to see the area closed up to preserve the natural habitat and asked that the commissioners survey the area to see exactly where they are breaking in. Also the light is broken. Lydia Tortora also said the Town is going to have a public hearing on the purchase of Carey tanks and put in a parking lot that might help the situation. She also asked for a nice sign to let people know it is a Mattituck Park District site. Ed Adams said the guard railing on the jetty side belonged to the Town but he will try to have telephone poles put up plugging the entrance where the dune buggies are getting in. TheCommissioners will authorize the police to patrol the parking lot. Pete Sabat said a sign and chain will be put up. The chain is to close off entrance after dusk at the Breakwater. The erosion east of Inlet Drive is not the Commissioners problem. DEC would have to get involved. Large garbage cans will be placed at Breakwater but no dumpster.
