At this time Kevin Kandy, George Soloman and Bill Bladykas of the Mattituck
Chamber of Commerce came into the meeting to discuss the grant that the Chamber has
applied for to be used for beautification of the village of Mattituck.. The Park District is
going to have some improvements made from the grant. One of the proposed
improvements is the building of an outdoor basketball court to possibly be at the Aldrich
Lane site. The current lease between Mattituck Park District and Mattituck School
District leasing the use of the land of the Park District to the School District and the land
of the School District to the Park District could be modified to reflect the 200' x 125'
piece of property owned by the School District to be used for the purpose of the
basketball court. The Chamber would like to have some agreement with the School
District that if the court is built on School District property at Laurel and the property is
later disposed of by the School District, the School District would build another outdoor
court on another site of the School Distrct.
Bill Bladykas said the Chamber. the School Distrct and the Park District are a
group thing with this grant. Who should the check be made out to7 He suggested having
the funds go directly to the Park Distrct.
Mr. Kandy asked if anything was ever suggested that the Park Distrct could
purchase that portion of School Distrct property on Aldrich Lane being used for soccer?
The answer of the Commissioners was "No".
After general discussion of all the above subjects the men left the meeting.
