HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-03/25/1987 ~inutes of the regular meeting of the Board of
Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held at
the Park Dist~i~t office on Main Road, Mattituck, NY
on March 25, 1987 at 7:30 P.M. with all Commis-
sioners present.
Mrs. Reiter, representing the Sigsbee Road
Civics Association attended the meeting to issue a
complaint regarding traffic control after games at
the ball Park at the Yacht Club site. She said
that she couldn't understand why these games were
not shared with the villages of Cutchogu~ Southold
and Greenport and why is the ball park closed to the
public.
Mr. Adams explained that the Park District was
formed to provide recreational facilities for ~ax-
payers. The ball park has rules and regulations one
of which is a curfew of 7:45 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. He
said that the greater percentage of evenings, the
games were played within the curfew time. When the
games are over and there is traffic, that is in the
jurisdiction of the Police Department of Southold Town.
The Park District has no control over that. He also
explained that the diamond is locked to keep the
site in good repair but that anytime it is wanted to
be used during the day Mr. Cox, the custodian could
be alerted of such use and it would be opened and
then re-locked when finished.
Mrs. Reiter asked about the Laurel field and was
told that Laurel is a hard bali field and soccer
field and that a hard ball field has much different
dimensions than a softball field.
Mrs. Reiter left promising to return at a later
date.
At this time bids for the concession at Veterans~
Memorial Park were opened. A bid of $137 accompanied
by a Personal Money Order payable to Mattituck Park ~
District in the sum of $200 dated 3/25/87, was opened
