HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-03/25/1987 ~inutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held at the Park Dist~i~t office on Main Road, Mattituck, NY on March 25, 1987 at 7:30 P.M. with all Commis- sioners present. Mrs. Reiter, representing the Sigsbee Road Civics Association attended the meeting to issue a complaint regarding traffic control after games at the ball Park at the Yacht Club site. She said that she couldn't understand why these games were not shared with the villages of Cutchogu~ Southold and Greenport and why is the ball park closed to the public. Mr. Adams explained that the Park District was formed to provide recreational facilities for ~ax- payers. The ball park has rules and regulations one of which is a curfew of 7:45 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. He said that the greater percentage of evenings, the games were played within the curfew time. When the games are over and there is traffic, that is in the jurisdiction of the Police Department of Southold Town. The Park District has no control over that. He also explained that the diamond is locked to keep the site in good repair but that anytime it is wanted to be used during the day Mr. Cox, the custodian could be alerted of such use and it would be opened and then re-locked when finished. Mrs. Reiter asked about the Laurel field and was told that Laurel is a hard bali field and soccer field and that a hard ball field has much different dimensions than a softball field. Mrs. Reiter left promising to return at a later date. At this time bids for the concession at Veterans~ Memorial Park were opened. A bid of $137 accompanied by a Personal Money Order payable to Mattituck Park ~ District in the sum of $200 dated 3/25/87, was opened from J & M Gourmet Caterers. The east jetty of the Bay Avenue site should be repaired. The west jetty at Vets Park does not need any repair but just pull some staves out. Bids are to be received and opened at the April 29th meeting The Market ~lace is under new ownership. They are to be offered the same deal with the key on the lock at the back of the store, An appraisal is to be made on the parking lot at Pike Street. The fire department is granted permission to hold a disaster drill at the Love Lane site on April 4, 1987. The ramp is to be closed that day ~il 12~oon. The Environmnetalists want to renew their rental agreement. Commissioners okayed. Renew from 7/1/87 to 6/30/88. Meeting adjourned.
