HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-03/09/2000 Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commisioners of the Mattituck Park District held on March 9, 2000 at 7:15 P.M. at the Park District office on Main Road, Mattituck, New York, with all Commissioners present (Gerard Goehringer, Chairman, Walter Sabat and Chris Talbot), together with Treasurer, John Cushman, Secretary, Ma&line Haas, Jim Cox, Labor Crew Leader, and George Soloman, member of the Chamber of Commerce. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the minutes of the February meeting were approved as presented. On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the Treasurer's report was approved as follows, and the following bills ordered paid: Cash $ 4,555.77 Cash in Time 333.57 Cash in MBIA/CLASS 192,815.93 Total $197,705.27 Academy Printing Services Burt's Reliable, Inc. Bell Atlantic Penny Lumber Raynor-Suter Hardware Inc. 728.00 94.04 1,571.98 151.00 On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and carded, the District is to purchase the apparatus and 3ra function hydraulic lines and insulation needed to be able to use the existing generic backhoe on the new tractor. Lease with Mattituck-Cutchogue School District: On February 21, 2000 Gerry Goehringer got a telephone call from Billy Carroll saying he was ready to commence the Aldrich Lane job of taking down the trees and grinding them. The School District did not want any further work done until the lease had been amended. On February 25, 2000 Gerry Goehringer had reported the language in the lease was okay. When lease came back it had additional language in it which was discussed by the attorneys and work could not go on. The attorneys believe that matter was about the fencing getting put up on Aldrich Lane. However, Billy Carroll is busy now and doesn't know when he can get to the job. Chairman Goehringer asked that a note should be made in the file or on the computer to be sure to have the lease renewed on time when it falls due in 10 years. Mr. George Solomon said that if the stalling keeps up on the lease and the $8,000.00 grant becomes in jeopardy, the Chamber will take it to the papers and let the public know what is going on. He also said the Mr. lngegno has been to the site and done all the site work. He will come back to stake out the courts. Corrazini will do the paving as soon as the site is ready. Briarcliff is to donate all the landscaping. Mr. Solomon said that the first fund raiser was scheduled for Mamh 25m at the Mattituck High School - a basketball game between the Vamity Boys and Girls basketball teams and a community team. There will be a 50-50 raffle and a basketball shooting contest. Admission is $5.00. On motion of Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, sum of $240.00 from the budget would be used for beach grass at the Scouters' Lodge. Secretary instructed to advertise for the concession at the Veterans' Park site for the 2000 season. On motion of Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carded, the District is to pay $615.00 to Suffolk County Health Department for a three-year permit for the Scouters' Lodge. On motion of Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and camed, Gall Faircloth will work an additional hour per day making her day from 10 to 2. Secretary instructed to contact Barbara Droskoski to come to the April meeting in regard to the lifeguards and beaches. Gerry Goehringer to speak to John Harrison regarding medical supplies for the lifeguards to see if we can order through the Fire Department. Bids for the advertised "AS IS" tractor were opened and recorded as follows: Bid of Les Walters, P.O. Box 896, Mattituck, NY - 298-3572 'in the sum of $1,000.00, Bid of Bill Lindsay, Cox Neck Road, Mattituck, NY in the sum of $250.00. Bill of Oregon Recycling, P.' O. Box 300, Cutchogue, NY - 734-7248 in the sum of $200.00. Bid of Talbot Trucking, P.O. Box 1193, Cutchogue, NY in the sum of $710.00. Bid of Eastern Equipment, 555 Larkfield Road, East Northport, NY, in the sum of $600.00. A discussion of the Commissioners followed and on motion of Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the bid of Les Walters for $1,000.00 was accepted. Gerry Goehringer reported that Veterans' Park site would be used on May 20, 2000 for Brian Goehringer's wedding. Jim Cox reported that beach chairs and tables were built, the brush and wire at the Breakwater site should be finished by the end of the week along the road, beach permits and ramp permits are in and he is waiting for Flawless Floors in regard to Scouter's Lodge. Chairman Goehringer told him to call John's Flooring in Aquebogue. Jim also reported that the grass at the Bay Avenue site had been tom up and the guard rail taken down. Culprit would fix it. There is going to be a demo on beach cleaning machines in New Jersey which Jim would like to go to with one other employee. Commissioners agreed to have them go. Jim also said he purchased diamond plate sheet metal for the dump truck. Commissioners then had a discussion regarding a new building at the Veterans' Park site.
