HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-05/11/2000 Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on May 11, 2000, at the Park District office on Main Road, Mattituek, New York, with all Commissioners, Chairman Gerard Goehringer, Walter Sabat and Chris Talbot, present, together with Treasurer, John Cushman, Secretary, Ma&line Haas, Labor Crew Leader, Jim Cox, and Attorney for the District, Abigail Wickham. On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Chris Talbot, and carried the minutes of the April, 2000 meeting were approved as read. Raynor-Suter Hardware Bell Atlantic 288.33 21.74 298.00 88.59 Ms. Wickham was in attendance for information on the building of the new building at Veterans' Memorial Park. She said the first things that must be gotten to her before any public heating of tax payers was held are as follows: 1. How much the Commissioners want to appropriate? 2. The full amount of the architect's fees (Warren Sambach); 3. All fees necessary to do the project. Gall said that the resolution regarding the holding of a public informational meeting of taxpayers would have to be published in the newpapers for two consecutive weeks prior to the meeting and notices placed in four (4) public places. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the public informational meeting will be held on July 18, 2000 and the vote on the proposition to be held on July 20, 2000. The fence problem with the adjoining property owners on the west side of the District property on Main Road, Mattituck was discussed and Commissioners will request two swinging gates so that if in an emergency, equipment could be gotten into our property. Jim Cox said that Breakwater beach has been cleaned and Veterans' Park still has to be done. Jim Cox also asked that in order to accommodate a taxpayer, an extension of the fence on the east jetty at Veterans' Park be made. Jim also said the two trucks are running okay and the mowers are all up and working. Chris Talbot said he had contacted Perimeter Barter Systems, Inc. of 55A Alder Street, West Babylon, NY 11704, for estimates of fencing at the Breakwater site and Veterans' Park site. However, the distances of the fences will be shoaer so further figures will have to be gotten. Alfa Industries Inc of 5t~ Avenue, Bay Shore, NY gave an estimate of windows for the Scouters' Lodge of $6,795.00. The paint estimate was $7,000.00 and Flawless Floors will repair floors at the Lodge and apply 3 coats ofoil based poly at a cost of r4500.o0., The Commissioners told Jim Cox to get windows done before the floors. Al~er the windows are in, Jim is to call Roy Osman to put the District on his list for the painting. The Adult League will be using the Aldrich Lane field this years at a cost of $75.00 per game. Jim Cox instructed to get Aldrich Lane field in shape. The first game is May 20th and there will be six games. Chairman Goehringer said Nancy Finn had been in touch with him and asked for permission to put benches and flowers at the Love Lane site. Commissioners agreed to same. Secretary instructed to write to Mr. and Mrs. Goggins regarding the cleaning and removal of debris that they placed on Park District property at the Aldrich Lane site. · L. etter of Ken Reeves, Recreation Supervisor of Southold Town requesting pemusslon to use the Veterans' Park beach for swimming lessons from 10 a.m.to 1:30 p.m. from June 26, 2000 through July 7, 2000 was read.,. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, approval was given and Secretary to so notify Mr. Reeves.
