HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-01/04/2001 Minutes of the organizational meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituek Park Dstsrict held on January 4, 2001, at the Park District Office on Main road, Mattituck, New York with Commissioners Walter Sabat and Chris Talbot present, together with Treasurer, John Cushman, Secretary, Madeline Haas, and Labor Crew Leader, Jim Cox. Absent: Commissioner Gerard Goehringer. In the absence of Gerard Goehringer, Chairman, Chris Talbot acted in the capacity of Chairman for this meeting. On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the minutes of the December 5, 2000 meeting were approved as presented. On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, Wickham, Wickham & Bressler, P.C. were appointed attorneys for the District for the year 2001. On motion o£Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and carded, North Fork Bank, Suffolk County National Bank and MBIA/CLASS were appointed banking institutions for the District for the year 2001. On motion ~f Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, Suffolk Times and Traveler-Watchman were appointed newspapers for the District for the year 2001. On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sahat and carded, Madeline Haas was appointed secretary of the Board of Commissioners for the year 2001. Town of Southold Verizon Penny Lumber $ 6,298.48 3,373.96 39,421.59 $ 49,094.03 $ 8.60 20.37 5.41 956.47 294.76 303.76 287.18 213.47 11,666.82 200.00 2,720.00 10.00 88.45 11.75 On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLVED, that the following modifications be made to the 2000 budget: FROM: Lifeguards $ 1,500.00 TO: Water $ 200.00 Propane 800.00 Insurance 200.00 Commissioners Fees 300.00 $ 1,500.00 A letter was received from Russell Mann of the Long Island Regional Service Learning Network asking for reconsideration of an additional use of the Lodge by them. Also a letter was read from Community Action of Southold Town, Inc. regarding the use of the Lodge for the above mentioned Learning Service. After a discussion regarding same, the Commissioners instructed the Secretary to write to Mr. Mann and inform him that the District was sticking to the once-a-year stand on use of the Lodge. Chris Talbot reported that the Town had reached a decision on the Wolf Pit Lake problem. The District is to remove 47 feet of the west end of the wall, cut the box down and fill with clean sand and suggested that a bench be put along the area. Jim Cox said that the water heater was taken offthe time clock. When hot water is needed, it can be turned on. Jim also said the lights at the Lodge are being fixed. Some of the switches are being replaced. Commissioners asked Jim to order the permits for the summer season. 'They also asked Jim to get a price from a cleaning crew to go into the Lodge to clean the stove area in the kitchen. The Secretary was asked to get in touch with the attorneys to see what the next step is to get going with the building. Why was the bond never forwarded to the Town?
