HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-03/01/2001Southolcl '[own Ch~lMinut~ of the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mathtuck Park District held on March 1,2001, at the Park District Office on Main Road, Mattituck, New York, with Commissioners Chris Talbot and Gerard Goehringer; Treasurer, John Cushman; Secretasy, Madeline Haas; Labor Crew Leader, Jim Cox, and Attorney, Gall Wickham all being present. Absent, Commissioner Walter Sabat. On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried, the minutes of the February meeting were approved as presented. On motion of Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the ~bllowing Treasurer's report was approved and the bills ordered paid as shown below. Sambach, Sr. P.E., 325.00 Shoreline Planting & Contracting 225.00 The State Insurance Fund 191~52 Verizon 50.48 Klm Prokop, Kathy Wilson and Cheryl Seifert entered the meeting and a general discussion of the playground was had. Gall Wickham asked several questions to clarify the final preparation oftbe bids for the playground equipment. Notice to Bidders is to be published in the Suflblk Times and the Traveler-Watchman fbr two weeks (March 8, 2001 and March 15, 2001). A non-refundable fee of $25.00 wilt be required to be paid by each bidder when the bid package is picked up from the office ofWickham, Wickham & Bressler. Bid packages may be picked up on any working day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. up to and including April 4, 2001. Bids will be opened on April 5, 2001 at the regular monthly meeting of the Park Commissioners. On motion of Gerry Guehringer, seconded by Chris Talbot and carded, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLVED, that the Commissioners of Mattituck Park District agree to produce Special Use Playground Permits to be used by Out-of-District members of the community for the sole purpose of parking on Park Disthct property, if available, for exclusive use of the playground at the Mattituck Park District's facility known as Veterans' Memorial Park, Peconic Bay Boulevard, Mattituck, New York. Gail Wickham left the meeting. Kim Prokop, Kathy Wilson and Cheryl Seifert, that women who organized on the fund raising for the playground, reported that on the weekend of the erecting of the playground, breakfast and lunch will be provided to the workers and volunteers. The ladies also reported that the Easter Bunny Day is estimated to cost $309.00 plus $77.00 for the Bunny suit. They did not know if the Chamber of Commerce was going to take care of these costs, but said that if it did not, Bill Bladykas will. On motion of Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the Park District will donate $200.00 for the Bunny Day. The ladies also reported that they will be having a Physical Therapy Consultation meeting regarding what type of equipment would be needed for handicapped children. The three ladies then left the meeting. Chris .Talbot reported that Fred Taylor had submitted and estimate of $960.00 masonry repatrs to the Park District Office building. On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Gerry Goehringer and carried, Fred Taylor will be notified to do the work. The District has been receiving letters from people who have used that lodge complaining about the uncleanliness of the building. The Commissioners instructed Jim Cox that poles have to be put in at the Love Lane ramp. Dwight Edstrom to be asked to do it and if not contact Steve Pawluk. On motion of Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLVED, that the following modification be made to the budget: T~o: Revenues: Gifts & Donations $13,115.00 Appropriations: Veterans Park Playground $ 23,115.00 From: Appropriations: Site Improvements $10,000.00 North Fork Volley Ball League has sent their schedule for the 2001 summer season. Paul Wilsberg spoke to Chris Talbot about putting bleachers at the Aldrich Lane The Commissioners asked Jim Cox to please check on the conchtion of the Aldrich Lane parking lot.
