Absent: Commissioner Gerard Goehringer. Also present were Kim Prokop and Kathy Wilson, representatives of the Playground Fund Raising Committee, and Abigail Wickham, Attorney for the District. On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLVED, that the fbllowing Budget Modification be made: Increase Revenues: Gifts & Donations $ 6,500.00 Increase Appropriations: Veterans Park Playground $ 6,500.00. On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the following Treasurer's report was approved and the bills ordered paid as shown below: Cash $ 3,185.31 Cash in Time 12,630.90 Cash in MBIA/C LAS S 212,442.18 Total Assets $ 228,258.39 BILLS: Verizon C.F.Van Duzer Gas Service Inc. Secretaw instructed to write to Mr. Attridge to invite him to the Commissioners May meeting to discuss the matter. Note received from Mr. Catalano regarding the Slo Pitch League which is starting the end of May. He wants to be sure that LIPA will be notified so that the lights will be on and in working order. Jim Cox was told to get the applications from LIPA which are needed for the turning on lights at some of the sites. This is a yearly thing that has to be done. Jhn Cox reported that the telephone cannot be hooked up at Aldrich Lane until the wire is trenched in. Jim Cox said Love Lane Beach was raked and cleaned up. Chris Talbot said that the Commissioners met with the all men who had been working for the Park to interview them. Commissioners agreed to hire them all back for this season. 7:30 P.M. - The bids for the playground materials were opened. 1. Game Time c/o Martarano Recreation Company Inc. P.O. Box 449 750 Burst Tavern Road Brick Town, New Jersey 08723 Bid $49,860.00 and enclosed a $1,000.00 check 2. Playground Systems of New York Inc. 135 Freeman Street Brooklyn, New York 11222 Bid: (1) $55,734.00 and (2) $52,475.00 (plastic roofs) 4. Playground Environments International 65 Davids Drive Hauppauge, New York 11788 Bid $50,294.00 On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLVED, that this meeting be held open and continued to Friday, April 5, 2001, to consider and review the bids submitted and opened at this meeting, in order to review the extensive specifications and the compliance of the bids with the specifications and other requirements of the bid package. At this time the women said the amount raised by their efforts was $55,365.00. The women and Abigail Wickham then left the meeting. Jim Cox said that he had a figure from Northeastern Equipment Unlimited, Inc. for a Scag Sabre Tooth Tiger mower in the amount of $13,245.,00. Commissioners said that this cannot be done at this time. It had not been budgeted for. It was reported that Mr. Edstrom has done the work at Love Lane putting in the poles. Jim Cox reported that the Hustler is out for service. He was told to take the John Deere to Northeastern Equipment, Inc. for general maintenance. Jim Cox said he wants to put the guardrail up at the top parking lot at Bailey's Beach before someone goes over. The Aldrich Lane parking lot was discussed. Commissioners said the dirt from Vets Park could be dumped into Aldrich Lane parking lot. Chris is to going check on the cost of crushed stone. Jim Cox said that something has to be done about the dangerous problem with the puddle at the Lodge. The electric wire runs under the puddle. Jim is to talk to Ray Jacobs about doing something with the road to stop the puddling. Garbage containers were discussed for the various sites. Barbara Droskoski is to be invited to attend the May meeting to go over her life guard and beach duties and any needed supplies. Chris Talbot said that he has give T-Ball Little League permission to use the softball field. Keys for the lock at the boat ramp are going to remain the same as thc 2000 key because we have keys left over. Keys will be cut as we need them. The permit will be $5.00 less for all those people who still have their key from last year., Chris Talbot said that Billy Carroll has begun excavation at Vet's Park site for the new playground. George Krause from Order of the Arrow which involves the top Boy Scouts from Greenport, Southold, Matt/tuck and Riverhead, has requested the use of the :Lodge the last Monday of each month except summer and when holidays fall on a weekend. Commissioners agree to this arrangement but Mr. Krause and the scouts have to be instructeted as to the rules of the building and be sure to have him furnish the exact dates he wants. Jim Cox said he needs a couple of kids that can run the tractor. Commissioners told him to see if he can come up with someone. No further business to come before the meeting at this time, on motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the meeting was adjourned unti! Friday, April 6, 2001. April 6, 2001 :Meeting continued at Playground site at Veterans' Memorial Park with Commissioners and Playground committee present. The bids were discussed and compared to the specifications. After due deliberation, the bid of Playground Systems of New York, Inc. in the sum of $55,734 was accepted. Gail Wickham, Attorney for the District, to notify the successful bidder and also notify the unsuccessful bidders and return the checks forwarded with their bids as per Instructions to Bid&rs.
