Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on June 12, 2001, at the Park District
Office on Main Road, Mattituck, New York with the following Commissioners present:
Chris Talbot, Chairman and Gerard Goehringer; together with John Cushman, Treasurer;
Madeline Haas, Secretary; James Cox, Sr., Labor Crew Leader; and Gail Faaircloth.
Absent: Walter Sabat. Also present were Klm Prokop, Kathy Wilson and Cheryl Seifert,
Playground Committee.
On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Gerry Goehringer and carried, the
minutes of the May, 2001 meeting were approved as l:rresented.
On motion of Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Chris Talbot and carded, the
following Treasurer's report was approved and the bills ordered p~id as shown below:

On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Gerry Goehringer and carried, the
following resolution was adopted:
RESOLVED, THAT NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the regular monthly
meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District commencing July
12, 2001, will be held on the second Thursday of cach month at 7:00 P.M. at the Park
District Office on Main Road, Mattituck, New York.
Chris Talbot reported that a letter from Mattituck Fire Department is interested in
acquiring the Mattituck Park District parking lot on Pike Street, Mattituck, NY. A
discussion had on subject by the Commissioners. On motion of Gerry Goehringer,
seconded by Chris Talbot and carded, the Park Commissioners would like to meet with
the Commissioners of the Fire Department after one oftbe by-monthly meetings oftbe
Fire Department's Commissioners. Secretary Haas instructed to write a letter to the Fire
Department with this information.
A letter received from NYS Parks and Recreation Depmhnent refunding our
application for the funding for access road to the Scouters' Lodge and access to the
beach.
Letter received from Warren A. Sambach, Sr. enclosing a letter he received from
Suffolk County Water Authority regarding the Park's application to Suffolk County
Water Authority for water service for Veterans' Park site. SCWA's letter stated that
water is currently available for additional hook-ups but they will not guarantee that it will
be available when the Park is ready for it. The fee for the hook-up begins at $3,000.00.
On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Gerry Goehringer and carried, there is to
be a revision for the new building at Veterans' Park to make it out of cement block with
vertical board and batten siding. Commissioners to advise Mr. Sambach to go ahead with
the cement block plan and also the steel building.
The Playground women gave an up-date on the progress being made. Everything
has been cemented in, Gazebo to be put in, Fred Taylor has to get going with the brick
work, need the sand, and have to order the fence.
The women stated that they have $30,000.00 to come from Ms. Acampora and
Mr. LaValle (NYS officials). Until the money is received, the Park District will advance
it and be reimbursed when the funds come from the State.
The women further stated that Sandy Friemann is doing some landscaping free of
charges and Frank Cichanowicz is donating some shrubbery.
It was reported that Pete Sabat wanted to order some T-shirts for the guys to wear
when they are on the beach cleaning up on weekends.
Chris Talbot reported that a woman had spoken to hi about the Plowers.
Gerry Goehringer said the Army Corps of Engineers is going to dredge the west
side of the Inlet.
Jim Cox said the telephone cable is in at Aldrich Lane.
The grass at the Strawberry Festival site was discussed. Jim Cox is to go up and
clean it up little.
Jim Cox to go to the Directors of the Cauliflower Block when it is working and
see if they have a brush hog for sale.
Jim Cox reported the cesspool drain at Veterans' Park is up near the top.
John Cushman reported that the Commercial Union Insurance Company said that
if we do not fix the roof and stucco on the Office Building they will not renew our
insurance coverage. The insurance company also said that the automatic extinguishers at
Scouters' Lodge would be cleaned annually and the kitchen hood and ducts should be
cleaned quarterly.
Andrew Glass is supposed to put the light on the flag at Love Lane site. He will
drop offall the equipment to do it.
On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Gerry Goehringer and carried, the
following resolution was adopted:

Chris Talbot had a price of $1200.00 for 80 yards of material for the Aldhch Lane
parking lot.
Gail Faircloth asked about her mileage pay. There is no record of an increase in
the minutes. On motion of motion of Gerry Goelmnger, seconded by Chris Talbot, Gail
Falrcloth's mileage payment would be $.33 per mile for the 2001 season.
Swimming lessons given by Southold Town will be held on Veterans' Park Beach
again this season.
Jim Cox reported that when the phone wires were installed, the wiring for the
zone valves at Aldrich Lane were cut. Jim advised that it has been repaired.
No further business to come before the meeting, on motion of Chris Talbot,
seconded by Gerry Goehringer and carried, the meeting was adjourned.
