Gerard Goehringers reported that the Capt. Kidd citizens want to see the
concession stand opened at the Breakwater site. He suggest4d that if we could get
someone to take a five year lease and fix the building, it might be possibl;e.
Jim Cox reported that wooden folding chairs and metal folding chairs are missing
fi-om the Bailey Beach building.
Commisioners asked Jim Cox to speak to Mr. Nekkerman about re-keying the
lodge for one key to open all doors.
Jim Cox reported that the hoses for the backhoe let go. Jim to get prices on hoses.
Kim Prokop gave us a copy of a letter she had sent to a Mr. Mark Burgess of
Miracle Recreation Equipment Co., Inc. fi-om which Playsafe Playground Systems of
NY, Inc. purchased the Veterans' Park playground equipment. This letter was written to
tell Mr. Burgess how pleased everyone was with the quality of the equipment as well as
the professional and customer oriented service we have had fi-om Mr. Romanello and
Playsafe. However, there have been numerous complaints regarding the Flippopotamos
slide. The complaints focus on the steep pitch of the shde and the abrupt exitway. The
Flippopotamos slide, unlike the other Miracle slides does not allow children to a gradual
exit fi-om the slide, but fomes an abrupt stop at the end of the steep decline, jan~ing the
children upon impact. She asked if the Playground Committee could discuss options
regarding the Flippopotamos slide with Mr. Burgess.
Kim also stated to the Commissioners, they could use more sand where they exit
the slides.
Kim was told that the Gazebo floor is to be done by the Park District.
Gerry Goehringer suggested a brick planter by the signs.
No further business to come before the meeting on motion of Chris Talbot,
seconded by Gerard Geehringer, and earned, the meeting was adjourned.
