HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-08/09/2001RECEIVED Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on August 9, 2001, at the Park District Office on Main Ro&l~uth01d Tovtn Clar~. Mattituck, New York, with the following Commisioners present: Chairman Chris Talbot and Walter Sabat. Commissioner Gerard Goehfinger was absent. Also present were Treasurer, John Cushman; Secretary, Madeline Haas, Jim Cox, Sr., Labor Crow Leader, Gall Faircloth, Gate Guard Coordinator; Klm Prokop, Playground Committee person. Chairman Talbot opened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. On motion of Water Sabat, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried the minutes of the July meeting were approved as presented. Kim Prokop reported that the 3-person slide at the playground has an angle rise upwai'd at the bottom end so children stopped short. Klm was afraid that the children could or would get hurt. A representative of the company providing the playground equip~ncnt came out to sec the problem and turned thc slide over to make it a climber. This piece of equipment was made to be used either way. He also fixed all the little things that Klm had spoken about to the'company. Kim also reported that Billy Carroll xvas getting ready to pour the floor in the gazebo. Chris Talbot told Klm we may not have Billy Carroll pour the floor. Something else will have to be worked out. Klm then left the meeting. ~hris Talbot reported that the water heater at the Lodge has been replaced. Walter Sabat reported that Sea Spray has a timer for the irrigation at Aldrich Lane site that we paid for and that never was brought to the District. It was for a spare to the one that is now working at the site. Chris Talbot reported that the window at Iht Park Office had been replaced, the leaking roof was repaired at the Park Office and the other work that the insurance company said had to be done or our insurance would be cancelled. Jim Cox reported that Kevin Romanoski had graded the old bathroom site at the softball field orl the Boulevard and black topped it. There is a big rut at the end of Bailey Beach Road by the Scouter's Lodge. This rut was made by water running down Bailey Beach Road and accumulating at the bottom. Secretary instructed to write a letter to Southold Town Highway Department and ask if they can address the'problem at this site. Chris Talbot reported that he has not had the opportunity to speak to Gail Wickham about the sale of the Park Office building. It was not charging. Walter Dohm entered the meeting. He said he has observed the playground and congratulates the Board, maintenance department and anyone else for an excellent job. He also said he rides around the community and he thinks the sites of the Park District are the cleanest they have been in years. He also spoke about the breach at Bailey's Beach. Chris Talbot told Mr. Dohm how he had been to several meetings at the Town regarding this situation and the Inlet. The east side of the Inlet is losing and the west side if building up. The man speaker at the meeting said that this was not an eminent situation. He fell lhe breach would not occur for 15 years more or less.
