Park District held on May 9, 2002, at the Park District Office on Main Road, Marfituck,
New York, with Commissioners Gerard Goehringer and Walter Sabat, present, together
with John Cushman, Treasurer, Madeline Haas, Secretary, Gail Faircloth, Gate Guard
Attendant, Jim Cox, Sr., Crew Chief Leader, Gail Wickham, Attorney for the District,
and Jose Aguilera. Absent: Chairman, Chris Talbot.
Mr. Aguilera spoke first regarding the use of Aldrich Lane site. He has the
insurance certificate needed for use of the site. His teams would like to start on Sunday,
May 10, 2002, but Mr. Goehringer specifically stated that there be no music and no
alcoholic beverages used on the site. Also, they would be notified when the fields will be
in use by the Soccer League and Mattituck High School. Contact people are: Charles
Anderson for the traveling teams - 727-6782 and Mr. Aguilera -298-9313.
On motion of Walter Sahat, seconded by Gerard Goelmnger and carried, the
minutes of the April meeting were approved as presented.
On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the
following Treasurer's report was approved and the following bills ordered paid:

Letter from Ken Reeves, Southold Town Recreation supervisor, requesting
permission to use Veteran's Park beach for swimming lessons to be held from June 24,
2002 through July 5, 2002, during the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (Monday
through Friday). The Commissioners present agreed and turned the matter over to Jim
Cox to have a Use Permit signed.
Gerard Goehringer reported that the grant for the playground from New York
State has been granted for $20,000.00. Gail Wickham is going to draw up a resolution
authorizing one of the Commissioners to sign the contract. Secretary to pick up a copy
when Gail notifies her it is ready.
Special Use Permits were discussed. The form has to be revamped and strongly
state that the person signing the permit, he/she knows that no alcohol will be consumed
during the time of the use of the function requested. If alcohol is used there will he
immediate revocation of the permit and all future use of the facility.
The offer for the purchase of this building which we received last month has been
turned down.
Jim Cox was asked if any part-timers were coming back. Jim said no one has
contacted him.
Gerard Ooehringer asked Jim Cox when he was going to clean the Breakwater
Beach. If he can't get it done, Mr. Goelmnger will contact the farmer to do the work.
Jim said it would get it done.
Jim Cox also reported that the grass cutting has been started.
Commissioners told Jim Cox to order any supplies that Barbara Droskoski needs
for the beaches.
The office copy machine is not functioning. On motion of Gerard Goehringer,
seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, Jim Cox was instructed to purchase another copier
not to exceed $650.00. ,
Secetary instructed to send a reply letter to Ms. Timpone regarding her letter of
April 29°~, 2002. Ms. Timpone was asking about improvements to the Veterans' Park site
and also raised questions regarding outsiders using the beach when they come with their
children to the playground.
No further business to come before the meeting, on motion of Walter Sabat,
seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried, the meeting was adjourned.

RESOLUTION OF BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
May 9, 2002
The undersigned, the Secretary of the Mattituck Park District, in the Town of
Southold, Suffolk County, New York, (the "Park District"),
DOES HEREBY CERTIFY AS FOLLOWS:
At a meeting of the Board of Commissioners (the "Board") of the Park District, duly
called and held this day at which a quorum was present and acted throughout, the
Commissioners unanimously adopted the following resolution, which has not been
modified, repealed or rescinded:
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS OF THE
MATTITUCK PARK DISTRICT ADOPTED MAY 9, 2002 AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT FOR THE MATTITUCK PARK DISTRICT
PLAYGROUND PROJECT AT VETERAN'S MEMORIAL BEACH, MATTITUCK,
NEW YORK.
WHEREAS, the Board has authorized the construction of a playground system on the
property heretofore acquired and now owned by the Park District at Veteran's
Memorial Park, Peconic Bay Boulevard, Mattituck, New York, in the Park District;
and
WHEREAS, the Board has heretofore applied to the New York State Office of Parks,
Recreation and Historic Preservation (NYSParks) for a grant to partially fund
construction of such playground, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been advised that the NYSParks has approved the grant to
the extent of $20,000.00 and have required the execution of an Agreement or contract
which will govern the distribution and use of such grant funds;
NOW, THEREFORE, upon motion duly made and seconded, discussed, and carded,
it was RESOLVED,
A. That the Board of Commissioners hereby accepts the grant of $20,000. from New
York State on the conditions of the grant, and authorize and empower any one of the
Commissioners, namely Christopher Talbot, Gerard P. Goehringer or Walter Sabat, to
execute and deliver to NYSParks a project contract or agreement (the Agreement)
which will be binding on the District, such Agreement to contain such terms and
conditions as the Commissioner executing such Agreement deems appropriate, and
any one of such Commissioners is hereby authorized and empowered to execute any
additional documents required by NYSParks in connection with the funding of such
grant; and
B. That any one of the Commissioners is authorized to execute and deliver any
documents, instruments or writings, on such terms, provisions, conditions,
stipulations and agreements as the Commissioner executing the same may deem
proper and advisable, which are necessary or proper in connection with the above.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately.
IN WITNESS WltEREOF, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed the
corporate seal of said Park District this 28th day of May, 2002.
