Park District held on September 12, 2002, at the Park District Office on Main Road,
Mattituck, New York with Commissioners Chris Talbot, Chairman, Walter Sabat and
Gerard Goehringer present, together with John Cushman, Treasurer, Madeline Haas,
Secretary, Gaff Faimloth, Gate Guard Attendanct, Jim Cox Sr., Crew Chief Leader, and
Gaff Wickham, Attorney for the District.
Chairman announced to the people present that the Budget for 2003 was approved
at the vote on August 8, 2002 meeting.
On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the minutes of
the August meeting were approved as presented.
On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and carded the following
Treasurer's report was approved and the following bills ordered paid:

The Commissioners reported that the bids for the tractor and track will go out
after the first of the year (2003).
It was announced by Gail Wickham that DEC had turned down our suggestion of
paying $1,000.00 and be allowed to trim. The County said the climate had been
considerably warmer and it could be that be that the pond would not be used for skating
this winter. Gail said she talked to Mr. Bowman (Land Use) at DEC and was told he
thought the matter could be resolved.
Gall then asked the Commissioners how important is the trimming along the edge
and north oftbe ponf. Commissioners said that was not important. At the end of the
pond on the west is important. -,
The New Building:
Gall presented the Commissioners with a letter from Warren Sandbach about the
changes to the new building. A general discussion was had about the bidding of the
building. Gail is to go over his letter with Warren Sandhach and is going to try to get the
notice to bidders out soon so that the bids can be opened at the October meeting.
Chris reported that Van Duzer was charging $1.80 per gallon for propane gas.
Peconic Propane gets $1.19 per can and Paragon gets $1.29 per gallon.
On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and camed, the District is
to use Peconic Propane from now on.
Jim Cox said the beach cleaner had been demonstrated and it was thought to be
very good. Jim had a tape of the machine which he showed at the meeting. Any decision
on the machine was not discussed and tabeled.
Chris Talbot reported that a check of $500.00 for Scouters Lodge was received
from East End Lions and also a check of $428.00 for Veterans' Park was received from
Mattituck Community Fund. Secretary instructed to write letters of thanks to both
organizations. .' ,... ' .~.
Jimmy Cox and crew are to check the shackles on the swings at Vet's Park and
the Breakwater swings are to be checks monthly.
Jim Cox said we have a Community Worker, Tim Monahan, who only has a
conditional license and Jim doesn't know if he can drive the District vehicles. Jim is to
check with the insurance company.
No further business to come before the meeting, on motion of Walter Sabat,
seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the meeting was adjourned.
