HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-08/08/2002 Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District and the annual budget vote of the taxpayers of the Mattituck Park District held on August 8, 2002, at the park District Office, Main Road, Mattituck, New York, with Commissioner Chris Talbot, Chairman, and Commissioners Walter Sabat and Gerard Goehringer present together with John Cushman, Treasurer, Madeline Haas, Secretary, Jim Cox, Sr., Lahor Crew Leader, Crail Faircloth, Gate Guard Attendant, and Abigail Wickham, Attorney for the Park District. At 7:00 P.M. thc Inspectors of Election were sworn in and thc polls were declared open and the meeting called to order. There was a discussion had on the specifications for thc new building for clarification for Gail Wickham who is ready to go to publication. A discussion was had on DEC and Wolf Pit Lake, DEC wants $1,000.00 fine paid for the construction of the wall built at the lake. Commissioners and Gail Wickham agreed to the payment of the fine with the provision that the tall weeks around the lake can be kept cut down. Gail Wickham then left the meeting. On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the minutes of the August meeting were approved as presented. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the following Treasurer's report was apaproved and the following bills ordered paid: Cash $ 3,108.63 Cash in Time 0-00 Cash in MBIA/CLASS 168,257.80 Bills ordered paid_: AT&T $ 14.10 Blackman Plumbing Supply Co., Inc. 164.63 Center Moriches Paper Co., Inc. 494.93 CITGO Petroleum Corporation 241.31 C.F Van Duzer Gas Se~ice Inc. 42.55 Eastern Tire 117.90 Farm Family Life Insurance Co. 200.00 Island Portables 319.00 LIPA 2,749.42 Mullen Motors Inc. 1,196.59 Verizon 97.65 Penny Lumber 184.72 The State Insurance Fund 1,675.21 Times/Review Newspapers 87.33 Verizon Wireless 116.34 Barabara Goehringer 20.00 Gall Fa'lrcloth 20.00 Gerard Goehringer suggested adding the names of two prior commissioners to the Veterans' Memorial Park sign. The names of Francis J. Murphy and Laurence P. Reeve would be added under the Welcome and just above Veterans' Memorial Park. On motion of Gerard Goebxinger, seconded by Chris Talbot and carded, Unique Lettering of Aquebogne, NY, is to be called and given the information for the lettering which is to be done as soon as possible. It was reported that the life guards at both Veterans' Memorial Park and Breakwater sites have all their friend visit them and hang around. The life guards neglect their duties and are not sitting in their chairs. Commissioners to take care of the situation. No further business to come before the meeting, on Motion of Walter Sahat, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Madeline S.
