Monthly Report: January 2011
LIFEGUARD TRAINING PROGRAM: An American Red Cross Lifeguard
Training Program began on Saturday, January 22. This is a joint program with the
Riverhead Recreation Department in an ongoing effort to ensure both towns with
qualified lifeguards to staff our beaches in the summer months. Program is held at
the Brookhaven Lab pool and the Henry Pfeifer Community Center in Calverton.
SPRING 2011 BROCHURE: is in the process of being finalized and will be an
insert in the March 10th edition of The Suffolk Times. Following is a tentative listing
of programs and activities offered for the spring 2011 season.

PARKS~ BEACHES, & RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING: was held
on Wednesday, January 19 at 6:30 p.m. Numerous topics were discussed including:
Hockey Rink Lights; Dog Park: Peconic Community Center: Storm Damage to
Town, McCabe's and Kenney's Beaches; Batting Cage Donation; Request for
Installation of Shed: Hampton Collegiate: Musco Lighting; Fences and Signs; Open
Space Acquisition & Use: and other varied topics.
