HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-11/07/2002 Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Commisioners of the Mathtuck Park District held on November 7, 2002, at the Park District Office on Main Road, Mattituck, New York, with all Commissioners present: Chris Talbot, Chairman, Walter Sabat, Gerard Goehringer, together with Treasurer, John Cushman, Secretary, Madeline Haas, Gail Faircloth, Gate Girard Attendant, Abigail Wickham, Attorney for Park At 7:00 P.M. Gerard Goehringer declared the polls open to elect a Commissioner to succeed Chris Talbot whose term expires December 31, 2002, and to elect a Treasurer to succeedIJohn Cushman whose term expires December 31, 2002. On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the minutes of the October meeting were approved as presented. On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried the following Treasurer's report was approved and the following bills ordered paid: Cash $ 1,275.54 Cash in MBIA/CLASS 82,886.01 Total Assets $ 84,161.55 BILLS ORDERED PAID: AT&T Verizon Wireless Bergo Janitorial supply Cutchogue Hardware C.F. There are continuous problems going on at the Lodge after each weekly meeting of the Boy Scouts. Commisioners feel that if this continues the scouts permission to use the building will be rescinded. Gail Wickham presented a letter with an offer of purchase of the Park District office. The offer was for $105,000.00. The letter was from Agawam Albertson Realty and further stated that the prospective purchaser has asked to have an engineer report, termite inspection and water test done prior to contract at his expense. The Commissioners advised Gail Wickham to accept the offer with the condition the building is being sold "AS IS". Gail advised the Commissioners that the engineer's report be done before the signing of a contract. The Commissioners discussed with Gail Wickham the one bid received for the construction of the new building at Veterans' Park site. The demolition of the building and removal of concrete is to be off the bid and the bidder said he would deduct 10,000.00 because it wasn't clearly stated in the bid papers. On motion of Chris Talbot seconded by Walter Sabat and carded, the bid package for the new building is to be re-bid.. Top figure to be $315,000.00. Notice to Bidders to be advertised for two weeks and bids opened on November 29, 2002 at 7:30 P.M. at the Park District office. No further business to come before the meeting, on motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the meeting was adjourned. Madeline S. Haas?Secretary At 9:00 P.M. Gerard Goehfinger declared the polls closed and instructed the Tellers of Election to proceed to count the ballots. Number of Voters Registered 146 Number Ballots Counted 146 Ballots for John C. Harrison for Commissioner 42 Ballots for Jerome Zuhoski for Commissioner 104 Ballots for John Cushman for Treasurer 125 Jerome Zuhoski duly elected Commissioner for a term of 3 years to commence 1/1/2003 John Cushman duly elected Treasurer for a term of 3 years to commence 1/1/03.
